About this Opportunity:
The Shipping Associate II performs duties of Shipping Associate 1, plus additional packaging and shipping duties as described below. This position interacts heavily with Shipping Lead, Department Manager, and Final Inspection Inspector. This role interacts with other shipping personnel in a team environment. The Shipping Associate II has some interaction with non Vander-Bend drivers. The Shipping Associate II follows prescribed procedures and policies. This position receives general supervision and direction but is expected to use judgment in completion of tasks and to overcome minor difficulties.
Responsibilities
- Palletizing of large parts, including building or modifying pallets using power tools.
- Highly custom packaging and specialized techniques, such as vacuum packaging.
- Extraordinary expertise and productivity (demonstrated over time) performing Shipping Associate 1 duties.
- Scanning of serial numbers.
- Full Truck Load (FTL) coordination, including;
- Direction to non-Vander-Bend truck driver, such as which building and dock to use and assistance in trailer placement, if necessary.
- Assure proper and timely scanning of serial numbers, delivery of scanner for downloading, verification of completeness and accuracy of scanned file.
- Proper loading and securing of product per work instruction or Department supervision.
- Place Shipping documentation in allocated location in the trailer and/or with driver. Secure driver signature on Bill of Lading.
- Installing serialized seal to trailer when required.
- Fill in for Vander-Bend truck driver when necessary.
- Processes Work Orders, including:
- Determination of quantity to process using Work Order Close Program.
- Manual stocking of overage quantity, if any.
- Determination of proper location in which to stock parts.
- Prints Packing Lists.
- Maintains consumable packaging inventory levels to meet fluctuating demand. Stocks and identifies incoming consumable packaging. Requisitions additional materials as required.
- Skilled forklift operation, such as the loading of trucks without the use of a dock and placing and retrieving pallets from high racks.
- Performs other related tasks assigned by the department Manager or Lead Person.
- Two years or more of work experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least twelve months as Shipping Associate 1 or equivalent.
- Demonstrated competence as Shipping Associate 1.
- Use of computer to retrieve shipping/packaging instructions and information, and for data entry.
- Demonstrated ability to perform at least three of the “Detailed responsibilities” listed above, OR the demonstrated ability to process work orders in Visual Manufacturing.
- Ability to engage in moderate physical activity, including lifting of up to 20 pounds.
- Extended periods of time standing.
- Use of Solvents.
- Valid California driver’s license – for applicants whose duties include that of relief driver.
- Vander-Bend forklift certification – for applicants whose duties include that of forklift driver.
