POSITION TITLE: Diesel Mechanic
LOCATION: Various Northern Sites across the Arctic
SECURITY CLEARANCE: Reliability
POSITION TYPE: Permanent, 6x6 Rotation (6 weeks on, followed by 6 weeks off for rest and travel)

- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and corrective repairs on diesel power generation and electrical distribution systems at North Warning System radar sites.Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain diesel engines, power generation equipment, and associated electronic systems.Monitor the operational readiness and serviceability of facilities and critical infrastructure at Long Range Radar (LRR) and Short Range Radar (SRR) sites.Install, maintain, and replace equipment and system components in accordance with technical documentation and implementation instructions.Complete maintenance records, operational reports, inspections, and documentation within Nasittuq's work management systems.Collaborate with Logistics Support System (LSS) personnel, site teams, and the NWS Command Centre to support safe and efficient operations.Travel between adjacent radar sites as required to support maintenance activities.Adhere to all safety, environmental, operational, and security standards while working in remote Arctic environments.
- CREDENTIALS: Provincial or Territorial Journeyman certification as a Heavy-Duty Diesel Mechanic, Heavy Equipment Technician, Automotive Service Technician, or equivalent. Military QL5 qualification will be considered an equivalent. Diesel endorsement is considered an asset. Valid driver's license required.EXPERIENCE: Minimum five (5) years of hands-on field experience maintaining diesel engines, power generation equipment, heavy-duty mechanical systems, and related electronic components.SKILLS: Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities, proficiency with diesel engine diagnostic tools and equipment, effective communication and report-writing skills, and the ability to organize and prioritize work independently. Comfortable working within a cross-cultural, team-oriented environment and capable of adapting to changing operational requirements.Ability to work rotational schedules and travel between remote Arctic sites as required.Experience working and living in remote camp environments is considered an asset.Demonstrated ability to work safely in physically demanding and adverse weather conditions.Commitment to supporting Nasittuq's mission and Inuit employment initiatives.Please note that employment at the North Warning System is conditional upon obtaining and maintaining an Enhanced Reliability Security Clearance or Secret Level Security Clearance.
