Job Description
Looking for PTA's for the following areas: Inland Empire, Big Bear, Pasadena, Murietta, Menifee, Temecula, Diamond Bar, Moreno Valley, Riverside, Azusa.
JOB SUMMARY: The Physical Therapy Assistant provides physical therapy services under the direction of the Physical Therapist and according to the physician’s plan of care.
The PTA provides services that help restore function, improve mobility, relieve pain and prevent permanent physical disabilities of patients suffering from injuries or disease. Restore, maintain and promote overall fitness and health under the supervision of a PT.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Follows treatment plan developed in collaboration with PT.
2. Contributes to PT’s effectiveness by identifying patient care issues; providing information and commentary; recommending options and courses of action; implementing physical therapy directives.
3. Assess patient health by interviewing patients; performing physical examinations; obtaining, updating and studying physical histories.
4. Assesses abnormal conditions by reviewing PT’s interpretations of patient evaluations and test results.
5. Document patient care services by charting in Agency software.
6. Performs therapeutic procedures by administering manual exercises; instructing, encouraging and assisting patients in using supportive devices and performing physical activities, such as non-manual exercises, ambulatory functional activities, and daily living activities.
7. Directs and aids patients in active and passive therapeutic, muscle re-education, gait and functional training, transfer activities and prosthetic training.
8. Instructs and counsels patients by describing therapeutic regimens; giving normal growth and development information, promoting wellness and health maintenance.
9. Utilizes physical agents, including but not limited to heat, cold, water, light, electricity, ultrasound and massage.
10. Observes and reports to the PT and the organization personnel the patient’s reaction to treatment and any changes in patient’s condition.
11. Instructs patients in care and use of wheelchairs, braces, crutches, canes, and prosthetic or orthotic devices.
12. Provides continuity of care by developing and implementing patient management plans.
13. Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations; adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
14. Maintain production objectives by noting current treatment trends; monitoring actual physical therapy services rendered to production objectives.
15. Maintains legal and accreditation compliance by adhering to policy positions concerning federal, state, and local regulations; anticipating emerging issues.
16. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintain personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
17. Establish and maintain positive interpersonal relations with internal and external customers.
18. Maintain a positive and respectful attitude and demeanor.
19. Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skill and Experience
1. Minimum education (or substitute experience) required: Currently licensed by the CA Board of Physical Therapy
2. Minimum experience required: Two years experience in Home Health preferred.
3. Skills required: Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality with regard to protected and sensitive information. Must be able to solve problems independently and confidently by applying analytical and logical thinking. Good sense and practice of proper body mechanics.
4. Demonstrates good verbal and written communication and organization skills.
