The Opportunity

Lesley University is seeking a full-time, nine-month Temporary Core Faculty in Social Work to join our Social Work department. The successful candidate will serve as a dynamic and dedicated educator with expertise in teaching courses focused on social work theories and direct practice. The Temporary Core Faculty member will teach a variety of courses such as Practicum, Social Policy, and DSM Diagnosis, along with practice-based courses across both the Bachelor’s and Master’s of Social Work programs.

In addition to teaching responsibilities, this position involves providing proactive and holistic academic advising and mentorship to undergraduate and graduate students, including supporting them as they develop their academic plans and professional goals. The Temporary Core Faculty member will also contribute to the broader academic community through participation in departmental meetings, service on university committees, and engagement in scholarly and/or creative activities that advance knowledge within their area of expertise.

Qualities and Capabilities

A successful candidate will have:

  • A PhD or terminal degree in Social Work or a closely related field (required).

  • Proven experience teaching at the undergraduate level, with a student-centered pedagogical approach that emphasizes experiential learning.

  • Evidence of scholarly engagement, including publications, presentations, or other professional contributions in social work or a related discipline.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse student populations and to foster an inclusive, equitable, and supportive learning environment
