Position Overview

Reporting to the Director Strategic Partnerships, the Development Coordinator will have primary responsibility to assist in fundraising efforts for YCC, in coordination with the leadership team and Board of Directors. This will include building short- and long-term fundraising strategies for the development, cultivation and implementation of major gifts, corporative giving and sponsorships, foundation gifts, grant opportunities, and annual giving. He/she will work with the Development team to achieve fundraising goals for the organization.

Position Duties and Responsibilities

Occupation specific tasks and the most important generalized work activities are listed for Director of Development:

  • Assist in planning, creating, and executing all annual fundraising activities for YCC.
  • Assist in implementation and planning of the Annual Support Campaign.
  • Establish and oversee a comprehensive reporting process concerning development outcomes and ensures that the Executive Management Team is completely aware of development goals and results.
  • Achieve annual fundraising goals mutually established by President/CEO and Board of Directors.
  • Train and lead other staff to support fundraising and marketing efforts. Work with members of the Board of Directors to achieve overall fund-raising goals.
  • Cultivate and nurture relationships with current and potential corporate & foundation sponsors, and individual donors.
  • Gain the cooperation of other departments related to special events, tours, and presentations related to fundraising activities.
  • Secure the participation of volunteers for event leadership positions and interfaces with other departments to assure logistical coordination.
  • Assist in grant proposals and reports to corporate, foundation, and government funders.
  • Manage annual giving campaign; cultivate major gifts.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive marketing and public relations strategy.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree and prior experience. Previous nonprofit experience is required especially in the development/fundraising field.

Mathematical Skills and Reasoning Ability

Basic and/or advanced computational skills may be necessary. Critical thinking skills needed. Must exercise good judgment and maintain confidentiality with critical and sensitive information, records, and reports.

Physical Demands

This position requires occasional standing and meeting with the public. Limited lifting of less than 25 lbs. be required.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.


Monday-Friday 9:00AM-5:00PM. There will be occasional nights and weekends depending on events.
