General Responsibilities:

Responsible for providing analytical services relating to the lending activities of the Bank; achieving goals as established in the Credit Division’s annual operating plan; complying with operating policies and procedures established for the credit function; communicating with appropriate personnel; responding to inquiries or requests for information; maintaining appropriate records and providing assigned reports.

Essential Duties:

  • Provides analytical services relating to the lending activities of the Bank as illustrated by the following:
  • Analyzes existing and prospective borrowers and performs all aspects of credit analysis to maintain credit integrity of loan portfolios.
  • Conducts cash flow and collateral analysis.
  • Identifies key risks to each approval request with appropriate mitigation.
  • Identifies all exceptions to Credit Policy and provides appropriate mitigation.
  • Assess all key strengths and risks of each approval requests and provides the Loan Officer with a recommended Risk Rating score.
  • Analyzes and incorporates real estate market data and industry data into the loan presentation summary.
  • Prepares the Loan Presentation Summary which is a written document that includes but is not limited to the proposed loan terms, cash flow analysis, collateral analysis and all other financial analysis.
  • Spreads financial information including tax returns and accountant prepared statements using Sageworks software.
  • Makes recommendations based upon creditworthiness of the borrower and terms of facility; provides support to the Loan Officer during presentations to the Senior Loan Committee or other approvers as required.
  • Provides ongoing support to lending officers for the management of customer matters, including maintenance of customer credit files, regulatory and compliance matters, and general customer service.
  • Performs special projects relating to the Credit Analysis Department and loan portfolio as well as other duties as requested by Senior Credit Officer.
  • Able to efficiently and appropriately analyze credit relationships of nearly all types and sizes including both Small Business and Senior Loan Committee levels of approval displaying an understanding of both Commercial Real Estate and Commercial and Industrial underwriting.

Requirements:

Basic Qualifications:

Education/Training: A B.S. or B.A. degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business normally required; specialized credit analysis education/training.

Skill(s): Must demonstrate strong communication skills; superior problem solving ability; proficient analytical, writing and mathematics skills; proficient PC skills specifically with Microsoft Excel and Word; strong time management and prioritization skills; working knowledge of financial statements and tax returns; ability to analyze, investigate, research, and make recommendations on potential loans.

Experience: A minimum of three (3) years’ of credit department experience normally required.
