Job Description
Medical Assistant needed for an established Rheumatology practice. Full-time position. This role combines both clinical back-office support and triage responsibilities. We are looking for someone who is organized, dependable, comfortable multitasking, and able to balance patient care with high call volume.
Requirements:PRIMARY DUTIES include, but are not limited to:
Back Office Responsibilities:
PRIMARY DUTIES:
- Answering phone calls and voicemails.
- Answering patient clinical questions.
- Review medical history and counsel patients regarding their clinical status and need for further evaluation or treatment.
- Evaluate a new complaint by phone and triage to emergent, urgent, or routine appointments.
- Locate laboratory results not yet in the patient’s medical records.
- Explaining/documenting laboratory results.
- Calling in prescription refills.
- Explaining procedures and treatments.
- Initiating prior authorizations.
- Schedules appointments and urgent visits as appropriate.
- Documenting all information into the computer system.
- Maintaining confidentiality of all patient information.
- Adheres to policies/safety practices.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Triage Responsibilities:
PRIMARY DUTIES include, but not limited to:
* Greeting and rooming patients, obtaining accurate vital signs, obtaining patient histories, assisting nurses/primary MAs with paperwork, and other tasks assigned.
* Keep exam rooms cleaned and stocked
* Must be able to multitask and willing to work as a team.
* Must have reliable transportation and live in area.
* Assist with injections (bedside, vaccines, etc)
* Excellent time management-and willingness to help others

Requirements
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma required
- Medical Assistant experience preferred (willing to train strong new grads)
- EMR experience required
- eClinicalWorks experience preferred
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to maintain accurate records
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills
- Ability to handle a fast-paced, sometimes stressful environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Positive and professional attitude
Additional Requirements:
- Reliable transportation and ability to commute to Rockwall
- Ability to travel to other locations if needed
