Job Description
The Department of Medicine - The Division of General Internal Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh is seeking full-time faculty at the level of Assistant Professor in the appointment stream. Exciting opportunities are available for translational research and teaching. Qualified applicants must have a PhD in Health Professions Education and be an established investigator with a proven track record in research, teaching, and a strong publication record. The position offers superb opportunities for research, and teaching and mentoring of students, residents, and fellows. Academic appointments and salary are dependent upon qualifications and experience.
The incumbent will contribute to the educational, research, and scholarly missions of the Institute through teaching, academic program leadership, and methodological consultation. They will teach five 1-credit courses, provide academic leadership as Assistant Director of the PhD Program in Health Professions Education and the Undergraduate Certificate in Clinical Research, and serve as a mixed-methods research expert supporting grant development across the Schools of the Health Sciences. Within the Center for Medical Education Research and Scholarship (CMERS), they will also provide methodological consultation to clinician educators, including curriculum, training, and program evaluation.
Candidates for Assistant Professor in the appointment stream need three or more years of experience in related scientific research; have achieved or established the ability to attain external research funding; have dispersed results through peer-reviewed publications and other scientific forums; have noteworthy teaching experience; and established the capability for continued career development and promotion.
