Facilities Assistant in Ann Arbor, Michigan at Gretchens House

Gretchen's House Child Care Centers are now accepting application for a Facilities Assistant.

Full-time - 40 hours/week (7-3:30, Monday through Friday)

Facilities Assistant Purpose:

• To assist in the maintenance of facilities, equipment and grounds in a safe, attractive, and functional state. All licensing, accreditation and normative safety standards are to be met at all times.

Key responsibilities:

1. Playgrounds: Repair broken boards or pipes, tighten bolts, replace swing seats replace in-ground timbers, put seasonal equipment away, build fences

2. Landscaping: Mow and trim lawns, Snow removal from sidewalks

• Some experience in carpentry, light electrical and plumbing.

• Use of proper safety standards when using all tools and equipment, including caution when working around young children in particular.

• Ability to use small machinery: Weed whip, Snow blower, Chain saw, Trimmers, etc...)

• Ability to solve problem independently to determine an appropriate course of action.

• Willingness to be trained using the Hi-Lo.

• Willingness to work evenings, on weekends, and holidays as required.

• Can use common sense in assessing a maintenance need, taking into account the child and adult needs.

• Able to lift heavy loads (50 pounds)—moving furniture, boxed materials regularly.

• Current driver's license – no more than 4 points.

• Drive company van and truck with/without trailer.

• Ability to work alone, unsupervised.

• Ability to keep regularly scheduled hours and properly log hours on payroll program.

• Ability to work outside in all weather.

• Ability to keep shop area and tools in good order.
