Evening/Overnight Recovery Support Specialist in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania at Sojourner House

For more than 30 years, Sojourner House has offered compassionate, faith-based recovery services to women and their children. We’re seeking Recovery Support Specialists for our evening and overnight shifts. If you bring compassion, dependable judgment, and the ability to provide both support and structure, we’d like to hear from you.

Available shifts

• Evening: 2:30 p.m.–10:30 p.m.

• Overnight: 10:30 p.m.–6:30 a.m. Overnight shifts include an additional shift stipend.

What you’ll do

• Provide a safe, supportive presence for women and children in our residential recovery program.

• Help residents practice healthy coping skills, household routines, and independent living skills.

• Respond to concerns and conflicts calmly, using a trauma-informed, recovery-oriented approach.

• Support childcare and family activities as needed.

• Complete required documentation and communicate important updates to the next shift.

• Prepare apartments for new residents by cleaning and stocking supplies.

During overnight shifts, you’ll also complete scheduled bed checks, support quiet hours, perform assigned medication counts in accordance with procedures, and ensure apartments are ready for arrivals by 6:30 a.m.

What you’ll bring

• High school diploma or equivalent and at least two years of applicable paid experience.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage competing tasks.

• Basic computer skills, including email and the ability to learn required documentation systems.

• A valid Pennsylvania driver’s license.

• Ability to obtain required child abuse, criminal history, and FBI clearances.

Certified Recovery Specialist or Certified Addiction Counselor credentials are preferred. Experience supporting people in recovery, working with children, or providing residential care is especially helpful.
