This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sr Database Engineer based in India.

This is a fully remote senior data engineering role focused on designing, operating, and modernizing critical database platforms across multi-cloud environments.
You will shape data architecture while balancing reliability, security, performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.
The role combines strategic architecture work with hands-on ownership of production database systems and data platforms.
You will collaborate with engineering, DevOps, software, analytics, data science, security, and business teams to deliver resilient data solutions.
You will contribute to cloud migration, database modernization, disaster recovery, automation, and infrastructure-as-code initiatives.
The environment emphasizes operational excellence, continuous improvement, and the use of AI-powered observability and monitoring.
You will also have meaningful influence over technology roadmaps and the evolution of a modern, scalable data ecosystem.

• Design and implement data architectures and database computing platforms in collaboration with software, systems, DevOps, analytics, and data science teams.

• Influence database and data-platform architecture while balancing operational excellence, security, reliability, performance, scalability, and cost optimization.

• Contribute to technology roadmaps and architectural improvements across information security, data platforms, disaster recovery, and business continuity.

• Lead or support strategic data migration and modernization initiatives, transforming and migrating data stores to meet evolving business and technical requirements.

• Own day-to-day production database operations, including tuning, maintenance, troubleshooting, optimization, monitoring, backup, recovery, and high-availability management.

• Build and maintain self-healing database capabilities using AI-based observability and cloud-native monitoring solutions.

• Support the modernization and centralization of the database environment in partnership with business, engineering, security, analytics, and data science stakeholders.

• Provide database engineering support for SQL Server and PostgreSQL, including SQL development and tuning, database objects, performance troubleshooting, and connectivity analysis.

• Manage PostgreSQL and SQL Server environments across GCP and Azure, including patching, upgrades, monitoring, backup and recovery, high availability, and disaster recovery.

• Design and operate BigQuery data warehouse capabilities, including schema design, query optimization, and cost and slot management.

• Implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and support CI/CD workflows for database changes, data pipelines, and infrastructure deployments.

• Establish and improve database engineering processes, standards, documentation, and operational best practices.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.

• 8+ years of experience in database engineering, data engineering, database administration, or a related field, with hands-on ownership of production database platforms.

• Strong understanding of data structures, database architecture, and technical design principles.

• Hands-on experience with GCP technologies including BigQuery, Compute Engine, and Cloud SQL for PostgreSQL and SQL Server.

• Hands-on experience with Azure Database for PostgreSQL, Azure SQL Database, and/or SQL Server running on Azure VMs.

• Strong experience with database high availability, disaster recovery, backup and restore, replication, point-in-time recovery, and performance tuning, including technologies such as Always On Availability Groups.

• Experience with version control and CI/CD tools such as Git, Azure DevOps, or Cloud Build.

• Working knowledge of Azure Data Factory, SSIS/SSRS in Azure, and Dataflow or Dataproc in GCP.

• Required experience with Unix scripting and the ability to learn and support unfamiliar technologies as needed.

• Experience supporting AI/ML platforms or integrating AI-powered data and observability tools is valuable.

• Familiarity with Agile or comparable development methodologies.

• Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and business teams.

• Proven experience working with US-based business teams and international stakeholders.

• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.

• Ability to work with core US Eastern Time business hours, including approximately four hours of overlap from 7:30 PM to 11:30 PM IST, plus four flexible hours.

• Ability to work independently in a remote environment with a quiet, dedicated workspace and reliable internet connection of at least 50 Mbps.

• Annual compensation range of 2,475,000–3,465,000, with final compensation based on experience, skills, job-related knowledge, market considerations, internal alignment, and location.
