Farm Laborer - Mower in Arcadia, Florida at Bethel Farms

We are hiring for a Farm Laborer / Mower to work on our sod farm. You will drive the tractor, mow, plant, and perform general farm labor duties such as planting, preparing sod trays, cleaning and preparing the field, and cleaning / sweeping the shop.

Essential Duties

• Prepares field and assists with planting.
• Assists Tray division with placing tickets on plug trays.
• Safely operates farm machinery, such as: Forklift, tractor trailer, and mower.
• Performs laboring duties, as requested, such as: Mowing, watering, seeding, and cleaning the field.
• Collaborates with the team to identify ways to improve department effectiveness; implements viable ideas.
• Adheres to Bethel’s safety policies and procedures. Always wears appropriate Personal Protective Equipment

Physical Demands of the position:

Position involves regular, and at times sustained, performance of heavier physical tasks such as walking over rough or uneven surfaces, bending, kneeling, stooping, working in confined spaces, and lifting or carrying moderately heavy (20-50 lbs.) items or may involve the complex operation of gasoline, electric, or diesel-powered machinery or shop equipment requiring the manipulation of multiple controls, fine adjustments or both. Position requires color, sound, odor, depth, texture, and visual perception and discrimination. Chemicals mixed by recipe and safely handled and stored. Ability to work under adverse weather conditions (cold – heat). Noise Level: Farming machinery.
