Job Summary: This is a full‐time mortgage lending position within Minnwest Bank. The purpose of the position is to evaluate and analyze the financial situation of current and prospective customers. Provide counseling and recommendations on appropriate mortgage product(s) that best suits the current needs of customers. The Mortgage Loan Originator/Mortgage Banker must be able to multi‐task and handle high volume of clients. Ability to work both independently as well as part of a team. Have strong communication skills and a high degree of tact, efficiency, accuracy, and confidentiality to provide a positive image for the bank.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Maintain personal mortgage production consistent with assigned goals (secondary market, in-house, and construction)
• Perform as the subject matter expert for more complex loan types
• Contribute to Bank profitability through interest spreads and generation of fee income.
• Promote Minnwest Bank and obtain new business through customer referrals, cross selling and officer call program.
• Remain aware of the external rate and economic conditions that impact loan demand, pricing, home values.
• Remain aware of new Mortgage products in the market escalate nformation as necessary
• Develop a working knowledge of all retail, insurance, and business products and services and effectively cross sell to meet total bank objectives.
• Cultivate business relations with realtors and builders to seek out other networking opportunities.
• Demonstrate proactive communication and cooperation with staff to identify solutions and effective methods to ensure an excellent customer experience.
• Collaborate with the Marketing Department to effectively market the Mortgage business.
• Completion of all required Compliance and BSA (Bank Secrecy Act) training and comply with all regulations applicable within the scope of this position.
• Compliance with Bank Secrecy Act, OFAC and USA PATRIOT Act including Customer Identification Program, customer due diligence, identifying high risk accounts, reporting suspicious activities to Supervisor or BSA Department.
• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

• 4-year college degree or equivalent experience
• 2 years of experience in Mortgage banking sales
• Excellent sales, communication and interpersonal skills
• Sales and customer focused, goal oriented with analytical ability
• Knowledge of banking regulations and compliance governing loans and deposits

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree, business or accounting emphasis
• 5 years' experience in mortgage banking sales

Schedule: Monday – Friday: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Workplace Environment:

• Requires face-to-face interaction and coordination of work with other employees and departments, and in-person interaction.
• Working at a computer and utilizing a telephone
• Occasionally lifting up to 50lbs
• May involve traveling for training and meetings

Pay Range: Base pay $11.13 - $25.25/hour plus commission on loan volume (base plus commission and full commission options available)
