Payroll & Benefits Specialist
Location: Dayton, OH (On-site)
Department: Human Resources
Job Type: Full-Time, Non-Exempt
Pay: Based on experience
Schedule: Monday - Friday

Woodhaven Residential Treatment Center provides compassionate care for individuals on their recovery journey. We are seeking a Payroll & Benefits Specialist to manage payroll processing and benefits administration for our growing team.
Job Overview:
The Payroll & Benefits Specialist is responsible for accurate and timely payroll processing, benefits administration, and employee support for pay and benefits inquiries. This role ensures compliance with federal and state regulations while maintaining organized records and providing excellent customer service to employees.
Key Responsibilities:
Payroll:
Process bi-weekly payroll accurately and on time using Paychex
Review and verify timekeeping records; resolve discrepancies with supervisors
Process new hires, terminations, and employee status changes in payroll system
Calculate and process garnishments, deductions, and adjustments
Prepare payroll reports and reconciliations
Respond to employee questions regarding paychecks, deductions, and direct deposit
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations
Benefits:
Administer employee benefits programs including health, dental, vision, life insurance, and 401(k)
Process benefits enrollments, changes, and terminations
Coordinate annual open enrollment - distribute materials, schedule meetings, track completion
Serve as primary contact for employee benefits questions
Manage COBRA administration for separating employees
Support FMLA, ADA, and leave administration tracking
Reconcile benefits invoices and coordinate with carriers
Maintain accurate benefits records in HRIS
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree in HR, Business, or Accounting preferred
2+ years experience in payroll processing and/or benefits administration
Experience with Paychex or similar HRIS/payroll systems required
Knowledge of federal and state payroll tax regulations
Understanding of benefits administration including health insurance, 401(k), and COBRA
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel)
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality
CPR certification required (company-sponsored)
