Job Summary
The Service Project Supervisor is in constant contact with customers and must provide excellent customer service. Continuous verbal and written communications between the customer and office are required. The Service Project Supervisor directs, evaluates, and guides the activities of one or two other service project technicians. The Service Project Supervisor performs a variety of roofing services including, but not limited to, leak calls, maintenance, repairs, roof alterations, technical services, and small re-roofing projects. These roofing services are performed in many states, making travel an essential part of the job and on a wide variety of systems including built-up roofing, cold- and torch-applied assemblies, coatings, EPDM, foam, metal, and single-ply.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate crew activities to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality roof installation.
- Ensure all work meets company standards, project specifications, and applicable codes.
- Monitor project timelines and budgets to maintain profitability and meet deadlines.
- Train, mentor, and develop crew members to build a high-performing, skilled workforce.
- Enforce company policies, safety standards, and performance expectations; take corrective action when necessary.
- Serve as the primary on-site contact for customers, maintaining strong relationships and clear communication.
- Complete and submit accurate daily reports, including labor hours, progress updates, and job site conditions.
- Coordinate material needs by reviewing requisitions and working closely with suppliers and internal teams to ensure timely delivery.
- Attend and contribute to pre-construction meetings to align expectations and project plans.
- Establish and enforce job-specific safety procedures in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct Job Hazard Analyses (JHA) and proactively address potential risks.
- Monitor on-site inventory, anticipate shortages, and order materials as needed to avoid delays.
- Maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment in safe and operational condition.
- Ensure job site cleanliness, organization, and professional appearance at all times.
- Document and upload daily images into RLM database, crew time entry, tailgate documentation, etc.
Additional Responsibilities
- Track project progress and proactively identify and resolve issues that could impact schedule or cost.
- Collaborate with Service Manager and upper management to provide updates and recommend improvements.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety programs.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to safety, efficiency, and quality.
- Assist in evaluating crew performance and participate in hiring or onboarding as needed.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, including permits, inspections, and compliance records.
- Service Technician personnel semi-annual reviews
Qualifications
- Experience in commercial or industrial roofing, with leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of roofing systems, installation methods, and safety practices.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and project documents.
- Effective leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with basic computer tools for reporting and documentation.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites as required.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- The work schedule is varied. The Service Project Supervisor may begin work very early in the day and sometimes work until late in the day. Facility operations may make it necessary to work at night or on weekends. Extensive travel may be required.
- The position may require being on call for emergency response during weekends.
- The job requires extensive bending, climbing, lifting, kneeling, pulling, pushing, sitting and standing for extended periods of time. Most tasks will take place on the roof and will require exposure to the cold, heat, rain, sun, and wind as well as various height buildings.
- Service Project Supervisors must be able to climb up a 60-foot ladder safety with 3-point contact, lift up to 90 pounds and push up to 200 pounds, and spend a lot of time working on their knees.
