Field Service Engineer, GCB

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Field Service Engineer, GCB based in the United States.

This role offers the opportunity to work at the forefront of power systems and industrial energy solutions, delivering hands-on technical expertise in both field and remote environments. You will be responsible for supporting complex electrical and mechanical systems, ensuring reliable installation, maintenance, and repair of critical equipment. Acting as a key technical representative in the field, you will directly contribute to operational performance, customer satisfaction, and system reliability. The position combines troubleshooting, customer engagement, and project leadership within a highly technical and safety-driven environment. You will work closely with customers to anticipate needs, resolve issues, and identify opportunities for service improvement and innovation. This is a dynamic, travel-involved role suited for a problem-solver who thrives in complex industrial settings.

Accountabilities:
  • Deliver advanced field service operations including installation, maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical and mechanical power systems, ensuring high reliability and compliance with safety standards.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex equipment failures in substation and high-voltage environments, applying technical expertise to prevent recurring issues and minimize downtime.
  • Provide on-site and remote customer support, ensuring clear communication, rapid response to technical issues, and strong alignment with customer operational needs.
  • Lead and coordinate field service activities and projects, including planning, execution, documentation, and technical guidance for less experienced team members when required.
  • Identify opportunities for service enhancements, product improvements, and potential business development based on direct customer interaction and field insights.
  • Maintain accurate reporting, documentation, and use of digital tools to track service activities, analyze performance, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in technical field service roles, ideally within power systems, electrical infrastructure, or industrial mechanical environments.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with hands-on experience in substation equipment, high-voltage systems, and electrical testing procedures.
  • Technical education in electrical or mechanical engineering, industrial mechanics, or a related field (degree preferred but not always required with equivalent experience).
  • Proficiency with diagnostic tools and standard software such as MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and field service or testing applications.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently in complex, high-pressure field environments.
  • Excellent communication and customer-facing skills, with a collaborative and solution-oriented mindset.
  • Valid US driver’s license and eligibility to travel across the United States, Canada, and Mexico as required.
