Job Summary:

The Supervised Visitation Facilitator is to ensure the safety and well-being of children by observing and recording activity and behaviors surrounding visitation.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Become familiar with referral information.
  • Assign a visitation room for the family in the absence of an assigned supervisor or become familiar with the location of the off-site visit.
  • Provide clarification and direction regarding the visitation (who can and cannot visit, etc.).
  • Greet and guide custodial and non-custodial parents and children to designated areas.
  • Monitor the visit in compliance with all the Supervised Visitation general policies.
  • Hearing and vision must be good enough to hear and see all that occurs during visits.
  • Monitor the visit at the level indicated.
  • Observe and document interactions, behaviors, and physical condition of all visiting persons.
  • General knowledge of computers and programs, with speed and accurate typing skills.
  • Ensure that the visiting room or location is clean at the end of the visits - encourage the family to do this.
  • Start and terminate the visit at the designated time.
  • Intervene if there are child safety concerns or visiting party is breaking rules. May need to remove the child from the visitation, ask the visiting party(s) to leave, and immediately contact the custodial party and Program Director if circumstances warrant this.
  • Provide parenting assistance and mentoring as necessary.
  • Record observations without interpretation. If stating an opinion, indicate as such.
  • Complete and save the Feedback/Documentation form on the laptop and email the completed report before leaving the shift.
  • Notify the Coordinator or Lead Facilitator at least 24 hours in advance if you are unable to work as scheduled.
  • Attend Staff Meetings, trainings, and other meetings as scheduled.
  • Maintain confidentiality of the families involved in the program.
  • Testify in court proceedings as necessary (rarely, if ever).
  • Other duties that support our shared work, as assigned

Requirements:

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Desire to provide a safe and non-judgmental environment for children and families to build bonds.
  • Highly principled, timely, detailed, and organized.
  • Proficient with electronic forms and ability to learn new programs quickly.
  • Speak, read, and write fluently in Spanish.
  • Demonstrates effective interpersonal skills

Education and Experience:

  • A high school diploma or GED required, bachelor’s preferred.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Knowledge of child abuse and neglect.
  • Knowledge of child and adult development and family dynamics.
  • An ability to work as a team member.
  • Knowledge and ability to model appropriate parent/caregiver behavior.

Requirements:

  • Work schedule: every Sunday from 10am-5pm and two weekdays from 4:30pm-7:30pm. Closed Friday and Saturdays.
  • Ability to perform considerable time sitting and reaching.
  • Ability to perform prolonged periods of time in front of a computer.
