The Fractional Contract Manager will serve as a trusted advisor to business teams, helping navigate contract reviews, negotiations, and risk decisions.
Working closely with go-to-market and leadership teams, this position will establish scalable contract practices that improve efficiency and consistency.
The ideal candidate will bring strong SaaS contract expertise and the ability to operate independently in a remote environment.
This role provides flexibility while making a meaningful impact on commercial operations and business growth.
You will help build the frameworks, tools, and processes that enable successful customer partnerships.
The Fractional Contract Manager will be responsible for managing commercial contract activities while creating repeatable processes that support business objectives. This role requires strong judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate contract implications clearly across teams.
- Review, draft, redline, and negotiate NDAs, MSAs, order forms, and other commercial agreements using both company and customer templates.
- Act as the primary contract resource for go-to-market teams by providing guidance on contract questions, negotiations, and business terms.
- Develop and maintain contract playbooks outlining standard positions, acceptable fallback language, and negotiation strategies across key clauses.
- Identify non-standard contractual terms, assess potential risks, and recommend appropriate actions including acceptance, negotiation, or escalation.
- Provide clear guidance to internal stakeholders on contract language, commercial practices, and risk considerations.
- Support the evaluation and implementation of contract lifecycle management solutions and AI-powered contract review tools.
- Help improve contract workflows, documentation standards, and operational efficiency across commercial processes.
- Collaborate with business leadership and operations teams to ensure contracts align with strategic priorities.
The ideal candidate is an experienced contract professional with a strong background in SaaS or technology agreements and the ability to independently manage commercial negotiations. Success in this role requires excellent communication skills, business awareness, and comfort working autonomously in a remote environment.
- 5+ years of contract management experience, preferably within an in-house SaaS, software, or technology environment.
- Strong knowledge of commercial agreements including MSAs, NDAs, SaaS licensing agreements, and order forms.
- Proven ability to independently negotiate standard commercial contracts and make thoughtful, risk-based decisions.
- Experience creating contract playbooks, clause libraries, negotiation guides, or standardized contract processes.
- Ability to explain legal and contractual concepts clearly to non-legal stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage priorities independently and work effectively in an asynchronous remote environment.
- Experience supporting B2B enterprise software, life sciences, chemicals, or materials industries is a plus.
- Familiarity with contract lifecycle management platforms such as Ironclad, SpotDraft, DocuSign CLM, or similar tools is preferred.
- Experience with AI-assisted contract review solutions or fractional consulting engagements is a plus.
