About the Role:

The Sewer/Drain Plumber plays a critical role in maintaining and repairing the essential underground and above-ground plumbing systems that manage wastewater and drainage for residential, commercial, and industrial properties. This position requires expertise in diagnosing, installing, and repairing sewer lines, storm drains, and related infrastructure to ensure efficient and safe waste disposal. The role involves working with a variety of materials and tools to address blockages, leaks, and system failures while adhering to local codes and safety regulations. The Sewer/Drain Plumber collaborates with property owners, contractors, and municipal authorities to deliver timely and effective plumbing solutions. Ultimately, this position ensures the integrity and functionality of drainage systems, protecting public health and the environment from contamination and water damage.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3 years proven experience working as a plumber with a focus on sewer and drain systems.
  • Knowledge of local plumbing codes, safety regulations, and environmental standards.
  • Ability to operate plumbing tools and diagnostic equipment safely and effectively.
  • Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting heavy materials and working in confined spaces.
  • Experience with a hydrojetter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Completion of an apprenticeship program or formal plumbing training related to sewer and drainage systems.
  • Experience with advanced diagnostic technologies such as CCTV sewer inspection cameras.
  • Familiarity with trenchless sewer repair techniques and equipment.
  • Certification in confined space entry and safety procedures.
  • Strong communication skills for effective client interaction and teamwork.

Responsibilities:

  • Inspect and diagnose issues in sewer and drainage systems using specialized equipment such as cameras and pipe locators.
  • Install, repair, and maintain sewer lines, storm drains, and related plumbing infrastructure according to blueprints and local plumbing codes.
  • Clear blockages and obstructions using mechanical augers, hydro-jetting equipment, and other tools to restore proper flow.
  • Perform excavation and trenching work safely to access underground pipes and systems when necessary.
  • Collaborate with clients, contractors, and municipal inspectors to ensure compliance with regulations and project specifications.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time spent on each job.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and use personal protective equipment to minimize risks on the job site.

Skills:

The required skills enable the Sewer/Drain Plumber to accurately diagnose and resolve complex plumbing issues, ensuring systems operate efficiently and safely. Proficiency with plumbing tools and diagnostic equipment is essential for performing installations, repairs, and maintenance tasks effectively. Knowledge of plumbing codes and safety standards guides daily decision-making and compliance, reducing risks and legal liabilities. Preferred skills such as experience with advanced inspection technologies and trenchless repair methods enhance the plumber's ability to provide innovative and less invasive solutions. Strong communication and teamwork skills facilitate collaboration with clients and colleagues, ensuring projects are completed on time and to specification.
