Member of Technical Staff, Security Engineering

Accountabilities:

As a Member of Technical Staff, Security Engineering, you will contribute to the design, development, and improvement of secure systems that protect digital assets and infrastructure. You will work across engineering teams to implement security controls, solve complex technical challenges, and promote best practices.

  • Develop and maintain secure, high-quality code for cryptographic controls and security infrastructure using languages such as Go, C++, C, and Rust.
  • Design, implement, and improve security solutions across distributed systems, ensuring strong protection of assets and sensitive data.
  • Apply advanced cryptography concepts, including encryption, hashing, digital signatures, key management, and cryptographic protocols.
  • Build and maintain threat models to evaluate system risks and strengthen security guarantees.
  • Analyze complex architectures, identify vulnerabilities, and develop effective mitigation strategies.
  • Support engineering teams by reviewing code, improving security guardrails, and addressing security-related technical challenges.
  • Contribute to security initiatives from planning through execution, breaking complex projects into actionable tasks and delivering measurable outcomes.
  • Improve testing practices, reduce technical debt, and help establish efficient security engineering workflows.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to review technical specifications, solve problems, and communicate security recommendations clearly.
  • Mentor engineers across the organization by sharing security knowledge and helping teams build safer products.
  • Participate in strategic security planning and contribute to a security-first engineering culture.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate has strong experience in security engineering, applied cryptography, and secure software development, with the ability to solve complex technical problems and collaborate effectively.

  • Strong foundation in applied cryptography, including symmetric and asymmetric encryption, hashing algorithms, digital signatures, key exchange protocols, and cryptographic libraries.
  • Proven experience designing and implementing secure systems with a focus on security best practices and industry standards.
  • Strong programming skills in languages such as Go, C++, C, or Rust, with experience writing secure and maintainable code.
  • Experience with Hardware Security Modules (HSMs), including secure key generation, storage, and cryptographic operations, is a plus.
  • Knowledge of authentication and authorization systems, including multi-factor authentication, OAuth 2.0, and role-based access control.
  • Experience with threat modeling, security architecture, vulnerability analysis, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Strong computer science fundamentals, including concurrency, algorithms, and data structures.
  • Ability to analyze complex distributed systems and identify opportunities for security improvements.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex security concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience collaborating with engineering teams and influencing security practices across an organization.
  • Commitment to code quality, testing infrastructure, user experience, and business impact.
