Job Description

Summary

An audiologist is responsible for the testing, diagnosis, and non-medical management of hearing loss, tinnitus, and balance disorders.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Audiology

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctorate in Audiology

Essential Functions

  1. Exemplifies St. Clair Hospital’s Customer Service Behavioral Expectations in all interactions. Treats customers with respect, compassion, and hospitality; anticipates, identifies, and responds to individual needs; makes a positive first impression by acknowledging customers; and demonstrates flexibility while maintaining priorities.
  2. Perform audiometric testing, including pure tone, speech, and immittance testing
  3. Perform Hallpike testing and subsequent treatment of BPPV using canalith repositioning maneuvers
  4. Develop treatment plans based on test results, needs, and self-assessment measures
  5. Fit hearing aids of a variety of styles and manufacturers utilizing real ear probe mic measures
  6. Provide continued care with follow ups and servicing/maintenance of hearing devices
  7. Select and provide appropriate assistive listening devices as needed
  8. Obtain earmold impressions and modify earmolds as needed
  9. Perform cerumen management as needed
  10. Counsel patients and their loved ones regarding the nature of hearing loss and tinnitus, review communication strategies, and provide realistic post-treatment expectations
  11. Counsel patient regarding tinnitus management strategies
  12. Refer patients to the proper specialist as warranted, such as ENT, aural rehab audiologist, tinnitus therapy audiologists, and cognitive behavior specialists
