Job Description
Position: Production Technician – Experienced
Reports To: Manufacturing Supervisor
Position Summary:
This is a hands-on role for someone who already knows their way around a production floor. You'll build walk-in coolers and cold storage equipment from start to finish — reading blueprints on your own, working through problems as they come up, and keeping your work to a high standard without needing much oversight. You'll also help newer techs learn the ropes and pitch in on ideas to make the line run better. You'll work closely with the Production Supervisor and other teams to keep production on track.
You will interact with co-workers and supervisors in a culture of accountability that values velocity, transparency, and the free exchange of information and ideas.
Key Responsibilities:
- Independently assemble complex components, subassemblies, and finished walk-in cooler units according to detailed production specifications and blueprints, including panel construction, door hanging, refrigeration line sets, and electrical rough-in
- Set up, operate, and maintain a broad range of production machinery and power tools, adjusting for varying job specifications with minimal downtime
- Ensure products are assembled correctly and meet quality standards, performing in-process and final quality checks with a strong eye for tolerance and fit
- Perform regular checks and maintenance on equipment to ensure proper functionality
- Identify, document, and resolve quality issues or discrepancies, escalating complex or recurring problems to the Production Supervisor
- Adhere to all safety protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and comply with company policies and regulations
- Report any unsafe conditions or incidents to the appropriate supervisor
- Handle raw materials and components, including loading and unloading
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including routine cleaning and maintenance of equipment
- Diagnose and resolve moderate equipment and process issues independently, escalating only complex mechanical or electrical repairs
- Work collaboratively with other manufacturing employees and departments to achieve production goals
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding production progress and issues.
- Mentor and train new and less experienced production technicians on assembly techniques, safety practices, and quality expectations
- Take a lead role in continuous improvement initiatives, proposing and helping implement process, tooling, and layout improvements
- Build pallets and crates as needed for shipments
- Must be willing to work overtime as business needs dictate
- Perform other duties as assigned including on other departments within the manufacturing process
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Advanced, hands-on proficiency with hand and power tools (e.g., electric drills, jigsaws, metal snips, rivet guns, hammers) with the judgment to select the right tool and method for the job
- Strong working knowledge of manufacturing processes and machinery, ideally within refrigeration, HVAC, or cold storage/insulated panel equipment production
- Ability to independently read, interpret, and work from complex blueprints, schematics, and technical documents without close supervision
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Good physical condition and ability to perform repetitive tasks
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Experience using measuring devices (imperial measuring system)
- Proficient in basic mathematical functions
- Forklift and/or other material handling equipment certification strongly preferred
- Familiarity with insulated panel systems, refrigeration components, and door/hardware assembly for cold storage equipment is a strong plus
- Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision, prioritize competing tasks, and maintain consistent output and quality under production deadlines
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing or production environment required; prior experience in walk-in cooler, refrigeration, HVAC, or metal fabrication manufacturing strongly preferred.
Language, Physical, and Travel Requirements:
- Verbal and written communication skills (Bilingual English/Spanish desirable)
- Extended periods of standing and performing repetitive movements
- Occasionally lifting weights of up to 75 pounds, with team lifting for heavier components
- Located in daily commutable proximity to our Manufacturing Center in Miami, Florida
Pay and Benefits:
- Full-time position
- Competitive pay commensurate with experience, above our entry-level pay band
- Health Insurance: medical, dental, and vision
- Paid Holidays
- Paid Time Off (PTO)
- 401(k) Retirement Plan with company match
