Fraud Strategy - Authentication

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Fraud Strategy - Authentication based in the United States.

This role offers the opportunity to shape fraud prevention strategies within a fast-growing fintech environment.
You will help protect customers from account takeover, scams, and emerging fraud threats while maintaining a seamless user experience.
The position combines fraud expertise, data analytics, technology innovation, and strategic problem-solving.
You will design and optimize authentication risk strategies while helping build next-generation fraud detection capabilities.
Working cross-functionally, you will collaborate with product, engineering, operations, data, and compliance teams.
This role provides the chance to leverage AI, advanced analytics, and modern fraud tools to improve security outcomes.
You will have significant ownership in creating scalable solutions that protect customers and support business growth.

Accountabilities:

The Fraud Strategy - Authentication role is responsible for developing and improving fraud prevention strategies focused on authentication risk, customer protection, and operational efficiency. You will use data-driven insights and emerging technologies to strengthen fraud controls while balancing security with customer experience.

  • Develop and maintain fraud strategies to prevent account takeover, scams, social engineering attacks, and other authentication-related fraud risks.
  • Create and execute authentication risk roadmaps covering analytics, tools, capabilities, processes, and operational improvements.
  • Analyze portfolio data to identify emerging fraud patterns, behavioral trends, and new attack methods using SQL, Python, and analytical platforms.
  • Monitor authentication fraud detection logic, alerts, and controls to ensure critical risks are identified quickly and accurately.
  • Support the integration of AI capabilities into fraud decision workflows to automate processes, improve detection, and enhance customer outcomes.
  • Build and enhance network and graph analysis strategies to identify fraud networks and collusive behavior while reducing unnecessary customer friction.
  • Partner with Product, Technology, Operations, Data, and compliance teams to investigate fraud incidents and improve prevention strategies.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on authentication fraud trends, industry developments, and evolving fraudster tactics.
  • Continuously evaluate fraud controls and recommend improvements that reduce losses while maintaining a positive customer experience.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate combines deep fraud expertise, analytical capabilities, and strong communication skills to develop innovative authentication risk solutions in a dynamic fintech environment.

  • 5+ years of experience directly managing authentication fraud strategies, including device risk, login risk, account recovery, profile changes, and related identity protection areas.
  • Strong understanding of fraud prevention methods, attack patterns, social engineering techniques, and strategies used by malicious actors.
  • Highly analytical mindset with the ability to interpret large datasets, identify trends, and translate findings into actionable business decisions.
  • Experience using SQL and Python for data analysis, investigation, and strategy development.
  • Demonstrated experience building or applying AI-driven solutions, including large language models, prompt engineering, workflow automation, or advanced analytics tools.
  • Ability to use AI capabilities to improve fraud detection, reduce manual processes, and drive measurable improvements in fraud outcomes and operational efficiency.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to independently investigate complex fraud challenges and develop practical solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical and analytical concepts clearly to diverse stakeholders.
  • Ownership mindset with a bias toward action, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams including product, engineering, operations, compliance, and risk functions.
