Job Description

Position Description: Purpose
The Test Vehicle Fleet Manager serves as the central authority for vehicle configuration and utilization within proving ground operations. This role is designed to drive operational excellence by managing the end-to-end lifecycle of a diverse fleet, including Autonomous Development Vehicles (ADVs) and auxiliary passenger units. The primary mission is to maximize fleet uptime and ensure that every vehicle—down to its hardware, software, and firmware—is precisely configured to meet closed-course testing requirements. By guaranteeing vehicle readiness and preventing execution delays, the Test Vehicle Fleet Manager eliminates logistical bottlenecks, allowing test planning teams to focus exclusively on high-value engineering objectives.

Essential Functions*
• Maintain a proactive roadmap of upcoming programs and schedules to identify vehicle requirements and preemptively resolve potential operational blockers.
• Serve as the primary “Source of Truth” for all on-site vehicle assets, ensuring data integrity and inventory accuracy.
• Partner with the Tech Ops Supervisor to streamline repairs and hardware campaigns, aligning technical resources with critical testing deadlines.
• Direct and track fleet-wide updates, including ECU firmware, hardware modifications, and the installation of specialized testing equipment.
• Analyze fleet health metrics and online-percentage targets to provide actionable insights during daily and weekly planning cycles.
• Oversee the end-to-end movement of vehicles between depots and test tracks, including large-scale logistics for major hardware upgrades.
• Facilitate the deployment of unique, platform-specific vehicle configurations tailored to the requirements of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).
• Lead structured communications across different proving grounds to standardize best practices and optimize cross-site fleet allocation.
• Manage the administrative and operational requirements for auxiliary assets, including VIN tracking, Car ID’s, and title/registration management.
• Support Tech Ops department in escalation of priorities and communications.

Qualifications
• High school diploma required.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Previous fleet management experience is preferred
• Past supervisory experience preferred.
• Valid state DMV issued or valid foreign country issued driver’s license.
• Basic computer skills.
• Observed leadership skills.
• Ability to complete and pass all internal, position specific job and safety trainings required.
