Position Description – Program Manager
Serve as a Program Manager for Smith Group of Americas Construction, acting as a trusted representative of the client while supporting the successful delivery of warehouse construction projects. This role partners closely with internal leadership, clients, and project stakeholders to manage all phases of project execution from planning through closeout, ensuring alignment with company standards, client expectations, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Act as the client’s representative and integrate within project teams to support program and project delivery.
Manage complex warehouse construction projects as part of a broader program management team.
Oversee all phases of project delivery, including site acquisition, environmental review (as applicable), planning, design, procurement, construction, and closeout.
Manage third-party consultants, contractors, inspectors, and vendors to ensure alignment with project objectives.
Serve as the primary liaison between client stakeholders, project teams, and the community, providing updates on planning, scheduling, and overall progress.
Develop and deliver presentations to leadership, clients, and stakeholders.
Ensure quality and consistency across all project deliverables.
Resolve complex design and construction challenges, including those with significant financial or schedule impact.
Identify, assess, and proactively manage risks to the client, program, and company.
Support negotiations with consultants and contractors on pricing, scope, and contractual matters.
Mentor and support the development of junior staff while fostering cross-functional collaboration across construction, engineering, and design disciplines.
Collaborate with all project stakeholders, including client representatives, engineers, contractors, superintendents, and internal teams.
Prepare meeting minutes, progress reports, and key project documentation; review and process invoices and pay applications.
Review and analyze designs, cost estimates, schedules, and project controls to ensure effective execution.
Evaluate and respond to change orders, amendments, and potential disputes or claims, including cost and schedule impacts.
Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, ensure quality, and verify compliance with plans and specifications.
Lead or attend project meetings and coordinate timely resolution of Requests for Information (RFIs) related to design, constructability, and materials.
Apply knowledge of safety requirements, company policies, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations to ensure safe and compliant project delivery.
Qualifications
Must have a bachelor's degree plus 10 years of relevant experience, or demonstrated equivalency of related experience and/or education
Must have previous experience managing projects of similar size, scope, and complexity
