The Endpoint Administrator administers, configures, and maintains the University's endpoint computing environment, ensuring reliable, secure, and effective operation of end-user devices and related management platforms.

The position applies standardized practices and professional judgment to administer endpoint technologies, troubleshoot complex issues, and recommend improvements to configurations, processes, and tools used across the University.

Its primary responsibility is the configuration, administration, and ongoing optimization of endpoint management platforms and related system behavior.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Endpoint Administration and Lifecycle Management (35%)

  • Administer the configuration, deployment, maintenance, and lifecycle management of Apple and Windows endpoint systems across academic, administrative, and shared computing environments.
  • Apply standard images, configuration baselines, and management policies to ensure consistency, security, and operational reliability of endpoint devices.
  • Coordinate with vendors and internal partners regarding supported hardware standards, warranty issues, and replacement planning.
  • Participate in planned endpoint deployments and refresh activities, providing technical oversight and troubleshooting for complex issues.

2. Endpoint Management Tools and Configuration ( 25%)

  • Manage specific applications crucial for end-user computing, such as Microsoft Configuration Manager/System Center, Intune, and Windows Autopilot.
  • Configure, maintain, and optimize endpoint management platforms, including deployment profiles, policies, application packages, and update mechanisms.
  • Independently analyze endpoint behavior, deployment outcomes, and configuration issues to resolve problems and improve reliability and performance.

3. Advanced Technical Support and Issue Resolution (15%)

  • Serve as an escalation resource for complex endpoint-related issues that require in-depth technical analysis and systems-level troubleshooting.
  • Provide targeted technical assistance for non-routine issues.
  • Document resolutions, configurations, and known issues to support consistent administration and future problem resolution.

4. Inventory and Endpoint Standards Compliance (15%)

  • Maintain accurate endpoint inventory records and ensure devices comply with established configuration, asset, and lifecycle standards.
  • Apply defined standards and procedures related to endpoint administration and technology refresh cycles.

5. Endpoint Security and Configuration Compliance (10%)

  • Maintain currency with issues related to virus and malware prevention, protection, and recovery.
  • Apply approved security configurations, patching standards, and compliance controls to endpoint systems in coordination with Information Security guidance.
  • Identify configuration risks or recurring issues and recommend corrective actions within established security frameworks.


Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Professional experience (approximately 2-4 years) administering endpoint or desktop systems in a managed environment
  • Proficient technical knowledge of macOS, Windows, MS Office, and enterprise endpoint management tools such as Microsoft Configuration Manager, Intune, and Windows Autopilot
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve non-routine endpoint issues using professional judgment rather than scripted procedures
  • Ability to work independently on assigned responsibilities and manage multiple concurrent technical tasks
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a higher education or enterprise computing environment
  • Familiarity with endpoint configuration standards, deployment tools, or automation
  • Understanding of basic networking, authentication, and device security concepts

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

  • Standard office and campus environment; movement between campus locations as needed
  • Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and handle light to medium weights (up to 35 pounds).
  • Role primarily involves systems administration and analytical work with limited physical handling of equipment
  • May require occasional evening or weekend work tied to deployments or maintenance windows


Additional Information:

Expected Hiring Range: $54,800 to $60,250

The compensation for this position will be determined based on factors that include available budget, internal equity, and the selected candidate's qualifications, experience, education, and other job-related credentials. This range represents Clark University's good-faith estimate of the expected hiring range at the time of posting consistent with Clark's compensation philosophy and internal alignment.
