Field Service Engineer/Technician

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Field Service Engineer/Technician in the United States.

This role offers the opportunity to work at the intersection of advanced engineering, laser-based systems, and real-world industrial applications. You will install, commission, and support high-precision vision and laser projection technologies used across aerospace, automotive, construction, and other high-tech manufacturing sectors. The position combines hands-on fieldwork, technical troubleshooting, and customer training, creating a dynamic environment where no two days are the same. You will travel extensively across North America while serving as a key technical expert for customers. When not on-site, you will provide remote support and diagnostics from your home office, ensuring continuous system performance and customer success. This is a highly autonomous role ideal for curious, adaptable engineers who enjoy solving complex problems in fast-paced environments.

Accountabilities

In this role, you will be responsible for installing, configuring, and supporting laser and vision-based industrial systems while ensuring optimal performance across diverse customer environments. You will lead on-site commissioning, calibration, and training activities, helping operators and technical teams fully understand system capabilities. You will also diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues, perform preventative maintenance, and support system upgrades and integrations.

  • Install, calibrate, and commission laser/vision projection and inspection systems on customer sites
  • Deliver technical training sessions, including classroom instruction and hands-on operational guidance
  • Troubleshoot electro-optical, electronic, and mechanical system issues using diagnostic tools
  • Perform preventative maintenance and ensure adherence to quality and safety standards
  • Provide remote technical support via phone, email, and remote access tools
  • Document customer interactions, system performance, and technical findings in CRM systems
  • Collaborate with internal teams on product improvements, testing, and issue resolution
  • Support data collection and field feedback for product development and enhancements
Requirements

The ideal candidate brings a strong technical foundation in engineering or a related discipline, combined with practical troubleshooting skills and a customer-focused mindset. You should be comfortable working independently in the field, interpreting technical drawings, and engaging with complex electromechanical systems. Strong spatial awareness, adaptability, and communication skills are essential for success in this role.

  • Diploma or degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Photonics, or related technical field
  • Strong understanding of 3D spatial concepts and coordinate systems
  • Experience with Windows environments, MS Office, and basic networking troubleshooting
  • Ability to interpret technical documentation, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings
  • Familiarity with CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Autodesk, Creo, CATIA) is an asset
  • Knowledge of diagnostic tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and LPMs
  • Ability to work independently, travel extensively, and adapt to varied field environments
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills
