Index Exchange is looking for a HRBP Director to join our team in our Toronto office. In this role, you will have an amazing opportunity to build within a rapidly growing business. Reporting to the VP, People & Culture, you will be part of a driven and passionate Global People team who are striving to make a difference in the organization. This role will specifically support our Engineering and Product teams.
In this role, you will operate at a strategic level, enabling and empowering leaders to own their people agenda while providing expert guidance on the moments that matter most.
Here’s what you’ll be doing:
  • Lead the people strategy for Engineering and Product, aligning talent priorities with business goals to enable performance, innovation, and sustainable growth
  • Partner with globally distributed senior leaders (VP/C-suite) to shape org design, workforce planning, and leadership capability, while also supporting them through people decisions and trade-offs
  • Act as a trusted advisor and coach to leaders at all levels, strengthening leadership capability, decision-making, and team effectiveness
  • Drive organizational effectiveness within high-performing technical teams, enabling scalable structures, clarity, and accountability
  • Lead complex employee relations matters, providing risk-based guidance, coaching, and resolution strategies while ensuring compliance with employment laws and company policies
  • Champion a high-performance, inclusive culture by coaching leaders to build diverse, engaged, and high-impact teams
  • Own and evolve the employee experience by identifying trends, diagnosing challenges, and implementing scalable, data-driven solutions
  • Leverage people analytics and insights to inform decision-making, influence strategy, and measure impact of HR programs
  • Partner with Engineering and Product leaders to deliver career development frameworks, capability building, and learning strategies for technical talent
  • Influence and lead change management initiatives, ensuring successful adoption of organizational and cultural transformations
  • Provide expert guidance on HR policies, practices, and governance, ensuring consistency, scalability, and compliance across global teams
  • Collaborate across the People team (Total Rewards, Talent Acquisition, L&D, etc.) to deliver integrated, end-to-end talent solutions across the employee lifecycle

What you’ll bring:
  • Significant experience as a senior HR business partner supporting Software Engineering and product leadership and organizations in a high-growth, global environment
  • Strong knowledge of global employment law, labor standards, and HR best practices
  • Demonstrated ability to operate at both strategic and tactical levels, balancing long-term planning with hands-on execution
  • Proven track record of influencing senior leaders and building credibility quickly in complex, fast-paced environments
  • Deep expertise in organizational design, talent strategy, and leadership coaching
  • Data-driven mindset with the ability to translate insights into actionable recommendations and measurable outcomes
  • Strong business acumen with a clear understanding of how people strategy impacts business performance
  • Extensive change management and transformation experience
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and drive alignment
  • Self-starter with a proactive, solutions-oriented approach and strong sense of ownership
  • HR designation (e.g., CHRP, CHRL) or equivalent experience preferred
