JTM Foods, LLC is seeking an experienced and driven General Accounting Manager to join our growing Chicago team. This leadership role is ideal for an accounting professional with a strong background in manufacturing accounting and cost accounting who thrives in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment.

The General Accounting Manager will oversee and direct all accounting operations, financial reporting, manufacturing cost analysis, and internal controls while leading and developing the accounting team. This position plays a critical role in ensuring financial accuracy, operational efficiency, and strategic decision-making across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee all general accounting functions including general ledger, month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Manage and maintain accounting systems, policies, procedures, and internal financial controls.
• Lead the preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Oversee and support all aspects of manufacturing accounting, including inventory valuation, labor tracking, production reporting, overhead allocation, and variance analysis.
• Manage and analyze cost accounting functions to ensure accurate product costing, inventory controls, and operational reporting.
• Partner with operations and plant leadership to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve financial performance.
• Monitor manufacturing KPIs and provide financial insight to support business decisions.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
• Coordinate and support internal and external audits by gathering required documentation and responding to inquiries.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and company financial policies and procedures.
• Continuously evaluate accounting processes and recommend improvements for efficiency and accuracy.
• Recruit, train, mentor, and develop accounting staff.
• Conduct performance evaluations and provide leadership, coaching, and accountability for the department.
• Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Strong knowledge of manufacturing accounting practices and cost accounting principles required.
• Experience with inventory accounting, standard costing, variance analysis, and production reporting strongly preferred.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work collaboratively across departments including operations, production, and leadership teams.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience with ERP systems and accounting software preferred.

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience required.
• Minimum of 2 years of management or leadership experience required.
• Previous experience in a manufacturing or food manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
• Cost accounting experience required.

Physical Requirements

Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer.

Must be able to occasionally lift up to 15 pounds.
