Job Description

Job Title: Medical Assistant- Oncology

Employment Type: Full-Time (M-F, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM)

Overview:
Carroll Hospital is seeking a Medical Assistant to join our Oncology team. This full-time position plays a crucial role in supporting the physician's office practice and delivering top-quality patient care. The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to ensuring a smooth and efficient office environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform clerical duties to support physician office operations.

  • Obtain pre-certification from health care insurers or managed care providers for various treatment modalities.

  • Assist with chart preparation, ensuring that test results, documents, and forms are current, organized, and complete before patient visits.

  • Attach and file lab reports, imaging reports, operative and pathology reports, and discharge summaries after physician review.

  • Reconcile lab results, ensuring all reports are received and reviewed by the physician promptly.

  • Handle phone/fax prescription requests as directed by the physician.

  • Schedule patient appointments and perform registration and check-in/check-out functions.

  • Verify insurance eligibility, ensure all necessary paperwork is completed, and enter charges accurately.

  • Order and maintain medical supplies for the office, ensuring an adequate inventory to avoid disruption of care.

  • Assist with clinical duties, including preparing rooms, assisting the physician during exams, and ensuring all instruments and supplies are available and not expired.

  • Record patient health history, vital signs (pulse, blood pressure, weight, height, and temperature), and assist with patient exams.

  • Prepare treatment rooms and assist with specimen collection and pathology requisitions.

Requirements:

  • Medical Assistant Certification or Patient Care Tech cetification required.

  • American Heart Association BLS Certification (required)

  • Minimum of 2 years of Medical Assistant experience preferred.

  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and compassionately with patients and staff.
