SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE – This Role:

Geotechnical Engineering

  • Plan, scope, and supervise geotechnical subsurface investigations including drilling, and sampling.
  • Review boring logs, laboratory test data, and field observations to develop site characterizations and engineering soil profiles.
  • Perform geotechnical analyses including shallow and deep foundation design, settlement, slope stability, bearing capacity, retaining walls, and ground improvement evaluations.
  • Author geotechnical engineering reports, design memoranda, and pavement recommendations; seal and sign reports as Engineer of Record.
  • Provide construction-phase geotechnical consultation, including pile installation observation, deep foundation acceptance, and earthwork oversight.

Construction Materials Testing

  • Oversee CMT field and laboratory operations on assigned projects, including soils, concrete, masonry, asphalt, structural steel, concrete mix designs, and fireproofing inspections and testing.
  • Review field reports, lab test results, and special inspection documentation; resolve nonconforming conditions with contractors and design teams.
  • Within the first year be the responsible engineer for special inspection programs.

Project & Client Management

  • Manage project scope, schedule, budget, invoicing, and change orders; ensure projects are delivered profitably and on time.
  • Prepare proposals, fee estimates, and contracts for geotechnical investigations and CMT services.
  • Serve as primary client contact; build and maintain relationships with owners, contractors, architects, structural engineers, and public agencies.
  • Coordinate with project managers, drillers, field technicians, and laboratory staff to deploy resources effectively across concurrent projects.
  • Support business development through client meetings, repeat work, and identification of new opportunities.

Leadership & Mentorship

  • Mentor staff engineers, EITs, and field technicians; review their technical work and provide constructive feedback.
  • Contribute to training programs, technician certification efforts, and internal technical standards.
  • Support the Department Manager in workload planning, hiring, and performance reviews.
  • Champion of Godenriq culture in the office, laboratory, and on project sites.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geological Engineering.
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive professional experience in geotechnical engineering and construction materials testing within a consulting environment.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in the firm's primary state of practice; ability to obtain reciprocal licensure in additional states within a reasonable timeframe.
  • Demonstrated experience serving as engineer of record on geotechnical reports and CMT/special inspection projects.
  • Proficiency with geotechnical analysis software
  • Working knowledge of applicable codes and standards, including ACI, ASTM, AASHTO.
  • Strong technical writing skills with the ability to produce clear, concise, and defensible engineering reports.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites; willingness to work occasional non-standard hours during critical construction operations.
