General Underground Laborer at Blue Mountain Energy, Inc. – South Jordan

Blue Mountain Energy is accepting applications for the position of General Underground Laborer for the Deserado Mine. Deserado is a coal mine, located near Rangely, Colorado. (Vernal, UT)

The successful candidate will be responsible for building cribs to provide support to the workings of the mine. This is accomplished by uniformly stacking 40 to 80 pound blocks of wood and vertically placing timbers in recommended patterns to support the roof. Other responsibilities include: shoveling coal onto beltlines, hanging ventilation tubing, installing mesh, moving the longwall monorail, cleaning up trash and debris in all areas of the mine, and other duties as assigned.

Must be a high school graduate or equivalent. Requires sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, and crawling on a regular basis throughout the day. Utilization of both hands for simple and power grasping, fine manipulation and push and pull. Must be able to reach and lift above and below the shoulder. Must be able to use feet to operate foot controls or for repetitive movement. Must be able to lift and carry 100+ pounds. Must have a valid driver’s license. This position may be assigned to any shift.
