UNCOMN is seeking a Community & Events Intern to develop a simplified event operations playbook including checklists, templates, and workflow improvements to support repeatable event execution. To accomplish this, you will:
  • Support the planning and execution of in-person and virtual events that connect UNCOMN with Department of Defense and federal mission partners.
  • Assist with planning and coordination of UNCOMN events near Scott AFB, Hanscom AFB, and select industry conferences.
  • Support logistics such as registration lists, scheduling, invitations, materials preparation, and attendee coordination.
  • Assist in coordinating virtual or hybrid events including webinar logistics and communications.
  • Maintain and improve internal event planning checklists, templates, and repeatable processes.
  • Help track event participation and post-event follow-up activities.
  • Support preparation of presentation materials, attendee lists, and event briefs.
  • Assist the marketing and partnerships team with related outreach and communications.
This position description outlines the core duties for this role, but it is not all-inclusive. Responsibilities may shift based on contract requirements, mission needs, or organizational objectives.

Requirements
  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an undergraduate or graduate program
  • Must be located in the St. Louis or Scott AFB area and able to work a hybrid schedule of up to 30 hours per week. The team is typically onsite Tuesday-Thursday, with flexibility coordinated directly with the manager.
  • Must be eligible to obtain a Secret clearance, granted by the US Government, as needed, which requires US citizenship. The government also uses 13 adjudicative guidelines to determine an individual's eligibility.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, strong research and analytical skills, attention to detail, effective organization and time management, and a positive, eager-to-learn attitude.
  • Interest in event coordination, marketing, or business operations.

Preferred
  • Experience with student organizations or campus events.
  • Familiarity with webinar platforms and/or digital event tools.
  • Interest in federal government, defense, and/or technology consulting.
