About DESRI

DESRI (formerly D. E. Shaw Renewable Investments) is a market-leading owner and operator of renewable energy projects throughout the United States. We have acquired or developed approximately 11 gigawatts of contracted capacity across a portfolio of over 70 renewable energy projects in 24 states.

About the role

DESRI is seeking a talented and highly motivated individual to join its team as a manager within the Asset Management group. The role provides the opportunity to lead the management of renewable energy assets while overseeing and developing a team of analysts and associates in an inclusive and engaging work environment. As a member of the Asset Management team, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the performance of your assets and the firm’s portfolio. You will work with a growing team of asset managers in a dynamic and agile organization, contributing to the success of renewable energy projects and the transition to a sustainable future. This role offers the opportunity to work in an inclusive, collaborative, and engaging working environment while mentoring and developing junior team members.

What you'll do

You will play a critical leadership role in ensuring the efficient and effective operation of renewable energy generation assets while overseeing analysts and associates supporting the portfolio. Responsibilities include managing financial performance, optimizing operational efficiency, monitoring contract compliance, and overseeing counterparty reporting. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess asset performance, resolve operational issues, implement strategies to improve reliability and availability, and ensure compliance with safety and industry standards. You’ll monitor revenue, operating costs, and budgets; review financial reports and forecasts; identify opportunities to optimize value; and partner with finance and accounting to ensure accurate reporting. You’ll manage contracts and key stakeholder relationships, monitor KPIs, and drive initiatives to maximize energy output and extend asset lifespan. In addition, you will mentor and develop direct reports, establish best practices, support recruiting and performance management efforts, and foster a collaborative, high-performing team culture while staying current on industry trends and regulatory developments.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering, renewable energy, business administration, or a related field is required. A master’s degree in any of these fields is a plus.
  • Intellectually curious candidates with a passion for optimization and 4-6 years of experience in asset management, operations, or project management within the renewable energy industry (PV or BESS), including experience managing or mentoring junior professionals, will thrive in this role.
  • Deep knowledge of renewable energy technologies, industry regulations, and best practices is essential.
  • Familiarity with financial analysis, budgeting, and contract management; impressive analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills; and a keen attention to detail are required.
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, demonstrated leadership capabilities, and experience in a role involving multitasking and problem solving in a fast-paced environment is highly preferred.

The expected annual base salary for this position is $130,000 to $150,000. Our compensation and benefits package includes variable compensation in the form of a year-end bonus, guaranteed in the first year of hire, and benefits including medical and prescription drug coverage, 401(k) contribution matching, paid time off, wellness reimbursement, family building benefits, and a charitable gift match program.
