About This Position

Description:

Title: Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Technician

Department: Safety

Reports to: EHS Manager

Job Summary:

The EHS technician is responsible for implementing and maintaining a comprehensive EHS program developed to ensure a safe working environment, compliance with regulatory requirements, and the protection of our employees and the environment. This role is critical in fostering a culture of safety and sustainability throughout the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with EHS policies and procedures that comply with local, state, and federal regulations. Ensure that these policies are effectively communicated to all employees.
  • Identify potential hazards and conduct regular risk assessments.
  • Implement risk mitigation strategies to prevent workplace accidents and incidents.
  • Conduct training programs for employees on EHS practices, emergency response, hazard identification, and the proper use of safety equipment.
  • Investigate workplace accidents, injuries, and environmental incidents. Identify root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Conducts regular audits and inspections to monitor compliance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Help coordinate regular drills and ensure that all employees are prepared to respond effectively in the event of an emergency.
  • Maintain accurate records of EHS activities, incidents, and compliance efforts.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in EHS practices and drive the implementation of best practices across the organization.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, Associate’s degree, or equivalent certification in Occupational Health and Safety and Enviromental Science.
  • 3+ years of experience in an EHS or related role, preferably within a manufacturing environment(s) or DoD.
  • Proven track record of implementing EHS programs and initiatives.
  • Familiarity with environmental management systems (e.g., ISO 9001) and occupational health and safety standards (e.g., OHSAS 18001/ISO 45001).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A proactive and detail-oriented approach, with a strong commitment to safety and environmental stewardship.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work in various environments, including office settings, production floors, and outdoor sites.
  • Occasional travel may be required to support multiple sites or attend training and conferences.
