About the Role:
The Commercial (HVAC) Installation Helper plays a vital supporting role in the installation and maintenance of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems within commercial construction projects. This position involves assisting skilled HVAC technicians by preparing job sites, handling materials, and ensuring tools and equipment are readily available to facilitate efficient installation processes. The helper contributes to maintaining a safe and organized work environment, adhering to all safety protocols and industry standards. Through hands-on experience and collaboration with experienced professionals, the helper gains foundational knowledge of HVAC systems and installation techniques. Ultimately, this role is essential for the timely and successful completion of commercial HVAC installations, directly impacting building comfort and operational efficiency.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to lift heavy materials and work in physically demanding environments.
- Basic understanding of construction site safety practices.
- Willingness to work outdoors and in various weather conditions.
- Reliable transportation to and from job sites.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in construction or HVAC-related work.
- Familiarity with hand and power tools used in HVAC installation.
- Basic knowledge of HVAC systems and terminology.
- Certification in OSHA 10-hour or 30-hour construction safety training.
- Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints or technical drawings.
Responsibilities:
- Assist HVAC technicians in the installation, repair, and maintenance of commercial HVAC systems.
- Prepare and organize job sites by unloading materials, setting up tools, and ensuring equipment is in working order.
- Carry and position HVAC components such as ductwork, piping, and units under the guidance of lead installers.
- Follow safety guidelines and maintain a clean, hazard-free work environment at all times.
- Support the team by performing basic tasks such as measuring, cutting, and assembling parts as directed.
- Help troubleshoot minor issues and report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to supervisors.
- Transport tools and materials between storage areas and job sites efficiently.
- Assist in the disposal of waste materials and ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
