POSITION SUMMARY
Cumberland Heights is a nationally recognized addiction treatment organization, and the technology that supports our clinical teams directly impacts patient outcomes. As a Systems Administrator, you will own the reliability, security, and continuous improvement of the IT infrastructure that connects our staff and systems across two dozen locations.
This is a high-ownership position. You will move beyond ticket-driven work to proactively identify risks, build resilient systems, and raise the technical bar across the organization. If you thrive in environments where your decisions matter and your documentation outlasts you, this role was built for you.
Infrastructure & Cloud Systems
- Administer Windows Server environments and cloud platforms (Microsoft 365, Azure, Entra ID)
- Manage identity and access controls including Active Directory, group policies, and MFA
- Oversee endpoint management at scale using Intune and/or SCCM
- Monitor uptime, performance, and capacity across all locations — and fix issues before users notice them
Security & Compliance
- Own the security posture: patch cycles, endpoint protection, MFA enforcement, and vulnerability remediation
- Maintain HIPAA-compliant infrastructure and actively support audit readiness
- Lead incident response for infrastructure-related security events
Backup & Disaster Recovery
- Manage backup systems and verify data integrity on a regular cadence
- Maintain, document, and periodically test disaster recovery plans — not just write them
Network & Connectivity
- Support multi-site connectivity including VPNs, firewalls, and routing configurations
- Troubleshoot escalated network and infrastructure issues across all facilities
Documentation & Knowledge Sharing
- Document systems, configurations, and runbooks to eliminate single points of failure
- Cross-train team members and actively contribute to a culture of knowledge sharing
Collaboration & Projects
- Partner with help desk, developers, and leadership to deliver infrastructure that enables the mission
- Lead or support implementation of new systems, migrations, and tooling rollouts
- Receive day-to-day technical direction and guidance from the Senior Systems Administrator, who sets priorities, reviews work, and provides mentorship on infrastructure decisions
- Collaborate closely with the Senior Systems Administrator on cross-site projects, escalations, and infrastructure planning; formally reports to the Chief Science Officer (CSO)
Required
- Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field required
- 4+ years in a systems administration or infrastructure engineering role
- Hands-on experience with Windows Server environments
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365, Azure, and Entra ID
- Solid networking fundamentals: DNS, DHCP, VPNs, firewalls, and routing
- Experience with endpoint management platforms (Intune, SCCM, or equivalent)
- Working knowledge of security best practices and compliance frameworks
Preferred
- Background in healthcare IT or other regulated environments (HIPAA experience a strong plus)
- Scripting and automation skills in PowerShell or Bash
- Hands-on cloud infrastructure experience with Azure or AWS
- Relevant certifications: Microsoft (e.g., AZ-104), CompTIA (Security+, Network+), or Cisco
Measurable Outcomes
- Reliability: Measurable reduction in unplanned downtime and incident frequency
- Security Posture: Consistent patching cadence, strong MFA adoption, clear audit trail
- Resilience: Tested DR plans, no single points of failure in critical systems
- Documentation: Runbooks and system docs that the team actually uses
- Team Capability: Colleagues who can cover key areas when you’re unavailable
