Job Description
Health Information Service Technician II
The HIS Technician is responsible for preparing, scanning and indexing medical and legal documents into the electronic health records. Performs birth certificate preparation tasks and submits electronically to the Department of Health and Vital Records. Provides support to the Patient Portal Helpline. Performs other departmental responsibilities.
Requirements: High School diploma or equivalent required. One year of experience in an office environment is required, preferably in health care. Familiarity with PC and other computer-related systems. Prefer experience with Meditech, GE Centricity and/or other health record systems. Must have excellent keyboarding skills. Proficient in reading, writing, and communications. Ability to identify, sort, and file, maintaining an organized work environment. Must be able to maintain record order and sequence. Must be able to understand the importance of detail and accuracy. Ability to work at a sustained pace to meet production rates while producing quality work. Must be able to understand the importance of customer service and confidentiality of information.
