Responsibilities

  • Perform work specified on the repair order with efficiency and in accordance with dealership policies and procedures.
  • Provide an estimate of the time needed for additional repairs.
  • Executing repairs under warranty to manufacturer specifications.
  • Safely operate heavy-duty and medium-duty wreckers, ramp trucks, tractors, and various other equipment as required
  • Respond promptly to after-hours service calls on a rotating on-call schedule.
  • Perform emergency roadside repairs, including jump-starts, tire changes, fuel delivery, and minor mechanical fixes.
  • Maintain professional interactions with customers, vendors, outside agencies, and team members.
  • Adhere to safety regulations and comply with local, state, and federal guidelines during operations.
  • Completing required paperwork and digital reports, including towing logs, service records, and repair documentation.
  • Keep workspaces and company equipment clean, organized, and safe, both in-shop and on the road.
  • Perform regular inspections and maintenance on company equipment.
  • Assist with in-shop maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs of customer vehicles when not performing wrecker duties.

  • A minimum high school diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL-A) with appropriate endorsements.
  • Valid DOT medical card.
  • Proven experience in heavy towing and recovery.
  • Clean driving record and ability to pass background checks and drug tests.
  • Flexibility for after-hours on-call rotations and emergency situations.
  • Strong problem-solving and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and remain calm under pressure
  • Physical ability to handle demanding tasks in various weather conditions.
  • Reliable transportation and phone service
  • Preferred Qualifications:

    • Certifications in towing and recovery (e.g., WreckMaster, Towing and Recovery Association certifications).
    • Experience in a retail repair shop or heavy equipment maintenance role.
    • Prior roadside service experience.
    • Own set of tools.
    • Expertise in towing specialty vehicles or equipment (e.g., RVs, construction machinery).
    • Knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and vehicle diagnostics/repairs.
    • ASE certifications.
