Disability Support Worker in Oxenford, Gold Coast, Queensland at Accord Care

We provide Supported Independent Living (SIL), In-Home Care, Community Participation, Short-Term Accommodation, and Community Nursing. We are seeking compassionate and reliable Disability Support Workers to join our team at a Supported Independent Living (SIL) home in Oxenford. You will be supporting residents with diverse needs, including intellectual disability, trauma histories, and mental-health challenges. Your role is to promote independence, dignity, and meaningful daily living.

• Provide respectful, person-centered support to residents
• Assist with daily living skills (cooking, cleaning, personal care, medication prompts)
• Support emotional wellbeing using trauma-informed and strengths-based approaches
• Build positive relationships based on trust, consistency, and clear communication
• Implement behaviour support strategies in line with NDIS guidelines
• Encourage community participation, social engagement, and skill development
• Maintain accurate documentation and shift notes
• Work collaboratively with the team and follow individual support plans

• Compassion, patience, and strong emotional awareness
• Ability to remain calm and supportive in challenging situations
• Understanding of trauma-informed care and mental-health considerations
• Excellent communication skills, including de-escalation and active listening
• Respect for autonomy, boundaries, and individual differences
• Reliability, consistency, and commitment to ethical care
• Ability to follow behaviour support plans and safety procedures

• Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, Disability, Community Services, or equivalent
• Current First Aid & CPR
• NDIS Worker Screening Check (or ability to obtain)
• Blue Card if required
• Valid driver’s licence
• Experience in SIL or psychosocial disability support is highly regarded
