SUMMARY OF DUTIES: The Staff Accountant will prepare and maintain financial records to track the organization’s assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include those in this section. Additional duties, which are necessary to carry out the function of the Staff Accountant position may be assigned and are incorporated by reference into this job description.
- Responsible for reconciling bank statements and general ledger accounts as assigned;
- Responsible for Balancing A/R and calculating A/R Ineligibles for monthly bank reporting;
- Responsible for calculating Customer Allowances and maintaining allowance records;
- Responsible for Daily/Weekly/Monthly bank reporting;
- Accurate data input and involvement in all audits;
- Maintaining Accounting confidentiality;
- Responsible for preparing and completing end of month journal entries assigned;
- Responsible for thinking critically in all duties assigned to correct errors, identify and communicate needed improvements and ensure accuracy of all work product;
- Performs above listed duties in a cooperative, capable manner, processing the information effectively and communicating the information as needed effectively;
- Reports to work, as directed by the Controller, and completes the above listed tasks in a competent manner.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
- Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, and accounting software.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, or related field, required.
- At least one year of related experience required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands of this job include light physical activity performing activities of an administrative, productive and/or technical nature that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee must regularly talk or hear and reach with hands or arms. The employees must frequently stand, walk, and use hands to finger, handle or feel. The employee must occasionally sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift up 10 pounds and up to 25 pounds. Vision requirements for this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee may occasionally work with the risk of electrical shock. The noise level of the work environment is moderate.
