Hudson Meridian’s Public Sector Division is seeking a full-time Assistant Project Manager. The Assistant Project Manager (APM) will be responsible for the effective quality assurance and oversight of a Design-Build contract and will interact closely with the internal Project Team as well as the Resident Engineer (R.E.) as part of the Owner’s Representative team.

Job Responsibilities

  • Ensure all contract works in compliance with contract documents.
  • Assist the Resident Engineer in their responsibilities.
  • Direct the field inspection staff in the assignment of their duties and reviewing their Daily Inspection Reports.
  • Attend the Design-Builder’s coordination meetings to assist in the resolution of conflicts.
  • Inform the Resident Engineer of issues affecting the progress of the work and recommend courses of action.
  • Confirm Quality Assurance Inspection staff are performing tasks in accordance with contract documents, contract change orders, and permit requirements.
  • Coordinate staging and Design-Builder field operations to ensure that scheduled completion dates are achieved when needed.
  • Prepare communications with the Client.
  • Participate in weekly and monthly status meetings.
  • Participate in the preparation of reports to management as needed.
  • Preparation of the minutes of all Progress Meetings and any other special meetings required. This will include follow-up for the Resident Engineer for completion of critical issues and tasks.
  • Monitoring Construction Management software to check that data entry is current and accurate. This includes Risk Register, Issues Files, Disputed Work, Claims, RFIs, Payment Tracking, NCRs, and Correspondence.
  • Assisting the Resident Engineer in identifying and tracking of items that require follow-up.
  • Logging and tracking of all Subcontractor Approval Requests, including checking references and preparation of responses.
  • Review and check of Contractor’s Request for Partial Payments prior to approval by the Resident Engineer.
  • Assuring that all required documentation is accurate and complete. This includes monitoring that the required Time & Materials sheets are maintained for extra work and allowances.
  • Tracking Contractor’s Certifications of Materials, Designs and Tests to ensure that the requirements of the Contract Specifications are met.
  • Maintaining documentation for Contract Closeout including requirements for Special Inspections, Occupation or Use Prior to Completion, Substantial Completion, Extensions of Time and Final Reporting and Equipment Tracking Logs.
  • Maintaining a Log of the Contractor’s Non-Conformances and their status in the Construction Management software.
  • Ensure that inspector’s daily reports are completed.
  • Update and maintain potential change order log, generated from RFI responses and ongoing field conditions encountered.
  • Maintain organized and detailed project records.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering
  • Five (5) years of relevant experience in a similar role
  • OSHA 30 Hour Construction Safety Course Certification.
  • Demonstrated capability for written and oral communication.
  • Demonstrated capability for handling a leadership role.
  • Experience showing a progression of responsibility and expertise.
  • PE, CCM, DBIA, PMP, ASTM etc. certifications preferred.

The Assistant Project Manager is expected to assist the Project Manager with their his/her duties in the office during design/preconstruction and will be in the field full-time during construction
