Responsibilities

Now Hiring for a Production Manager at our MSA Safety Globe Manufacturing Ada, Oklahoma plant.

In this role you will be counted on to oversee and optimize the manufacturing operations of a textiles factory specializing in turnout gear production. You will ensure timely execution of high-quality products while maintaining safety, quality, and efficiency. Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and teamwork through a good work environment. Achieve production targets, uphold compliance with quality, industry and safety standards, and drive operational excellence through effective resource management, employee engagement, and process improvement initiatives.

Daily Execution

  • Monitors output performance to required daily rates (hour, week, month).
  • Works with support staff groups to address data reports they generate (safety, people, quality, delivery, cost, and CI).
  • Interact with production planning to understand both short- and long-term staffing needs. Initiates/facilitates those adjustments.
  • Works with departments to ensure their area(s) are aligned to meet customer needs.
  • Assigns owners for specific actions and target execution or completion dates.
  • Creates a reaction plan to recover missing targets or deadlines.
  • Communication

  • Gathers information, conveys results and motivates a large work group towards achieving multiple performance objectives.
  • Staff meetings / huddles / peer communication.
  • Employee communication sessions.
  • Project leader roles.
  • Daily unplanned interactions with production associates and a broad.
  • Variety of support staff for the plant and division.

  • Providing performance information and/or data along with commentary to the Plant Manager and other Management as needed.

  • Financial Responsibility

  • Regularly tracks operating financial performance / OEE.
  • Understands operating changes’ impacts on performance & communicates as required.
  • Summarizes and provides supporting commentary for financial performance of production operations.
  • Translates customer generated forecast data into staffing levels.
  • Provides input for capital and other discrete operating needs.
  • Develops non-staffing costs elements of manufacturing budgets.
  • Understands manufacturing budgets impact on product costs and presents information in that context.
  • People Development and Leadership

    • PMP Process.
    • Facilitates development plans.
    • Looks for training opportunities to grow staff beyond the day-to-day assignment opportunities.
    • Promotes development in regular interactions with production associates.
    • Develops departmental standards and establish overall priorities.
    • Responsible for performance and leadership of a department, accountable for performance management and hire/fire decisions.

    Champion the MSA Business System / Operating System

  • Works with Continuous Improvement teams to identify & implement cost reduction initiatives, throughput gains, layout optimization, quality enhancements and customer upgrades.
  • Facilitates participation and interaction of self and staff with the Operating System and lean tools implementation.
  • Support New Product Development

  • Engages with NPD plans and understands their manufacturing ramifications.
  • Participates and/or has staff actively participate in appropriate NPD projects.
  • Supports and helps facilitate actual NPD launches; works with functional staff in that capacity.

    Required:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations, Business, or a Related Field.
    • 3+ years supervisory / managerial experience.
    • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing environment.
    • Strong technical capabilities, excellent communication skills, management knowledge / execution and solid financial / analytical skills.

    Preferred:

    Master's Degree
