Job Summary
The Clinic Registered Nurse (RN) uses standardized, medical staff approved protocols to provide telephone triage, advice and health education for callers to the practice. Maintains current and approved standard protocols to provide timely access to care and patient safety. Ensures a therapeutic and safe environment for patients and families, utilizing these approved protocols. This position provides age-specific and developmentally appropriate nursing triage for neonate, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
Compensation
We are committed to providing wage ranges for all open positions. Please note that the specific compensation for this role will be determined based on experience, education and internal equity considerations. The hourly wage range for this position is $36.50–$51.53. This range reflects the base salary for this position.
Key Accountabilities
-
Provides individualized nursing telephone triage based on scientific principles and reflecting patient-centered philosophy.
Interview patient and/or family to obtain history and reviews collected data to provide accurate assessment.
Responds to all incoming patient telephone calls to screen, evaluate and implement treatment plans, assess patient medical condition, coordinating/communicating a plan of care.
Documents all phone calls 100% of the time.
Initiate diagnostic/therapeutic measures as indicated by standing protocols and physician orders.
Evaluates patient response to recommendations and assures understanding and compliance.
Recognizes critical episodes and initiates appropriate interventions.
Communicates clearly and appropriately with other departments in the hospital and clinic environment as well as external customers.
Maintains a <1% complaint rate.
Communicates and acts as a liaison between patients, family and physician with respect to confidentiality.
Assist surgeons as necessary with clinic-based procedures.
Act as liaison between surgical providers and other providers/departments.
Prepare/Maintain Surgical Instrument Packs.
Perform nursing triage for all surgical patients; pre-op teaching, post-op follows up.
Coordination of surgical services, including schedule surgeries, image-guided procedures, and ED procedures (thoracentesis, paracentesis, etc.)
Coordination of Endoscopy Clinic: scheduling, prep instructions, pathology and post procedure follow up.
Breast Care Center back up.
Required Qualifications

Current unrestricted RN license with the Minnesota Board of Nursing.
Current BLS must be enrolled in NH+C RQI program and complete the requirements within 90 days of enrollment. Must remain current (complete quarterly assignments prior to the end of each calendar quarter).
Must be able to speak, read, and write English proficiently to ensure safe and effective communication in a healthcare environment.
Ability to learn and use electronic health records and other computer programs.

Previous triage experience.
One-year ambulatory experience.
Schedule
-
40 hours per two-week pay period
-
Monday–Friday, flex days when Specialty Providers are in office
