Field Service Technician

Location: Dalton, GA
Job Type: Direct Hire
Pay Rate: Starting at $40/hour (may be higher depending on experience)
Overview
We are seeking a skilled Field Service Technician to support the installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of power distribution equipment. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on technical work, problem-solving, and working independently in the field.
This position involves frequent travel and direct interaction with customers, so strong communication and professionalism are essential.
Installation & Commissioning
- Install and support startup of power distribution systems
- Perform system verification, testing, and commissioning activities
- Configure and troubleshoot HMIs and control interfaces
- Ensure compliance with electrical and safety standards
Troubleshooting & Repair
- Diagnose and repair issues with 3-phase power systems, transformers, and electrical components
- Read and interpret electrical schematics and one-line diagrams
- Perform root-cause troubleshooting in live environments
Customer Interaction & Support
- Serve as the primary point of contact onsite
- Communicate clearly with customers and internal teams
- Provide training and support to operators and maintenance personnel
Documentation & Reporting
- Complete service reports with accuracy and detail
- Track labor, parts, and service activities
- Identify recurring issues and suggest improvements
Required:
- 3+ years of field service, electrical service, or related experience
- Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills
- Experience working with 24V, 120V, and 480V systems
- Ability to read electrical schematics and drawings
- Willingness to travel 75%+
- Valid driver’s license
Preferred:
- Experience with power distribution equipment (UPS, switchgear, transformers, etc.)
- Basic PLC or HMI troubleshooting experience
- Commissioning or startup experience
- OSHA or safety training
