Overview of the Role

The Human Resources Specialist will play a major role in GPO’s hiring process. The HR Specialist is primarily responsible for successfully recruiting, hiring, and onboarding of new employees in a timely manner. The HR Specialist will be a resource to hiring managers and will provide general support to the Human Resources Department.

Requirements:

Human Resources Specialist Responsibilities

  • Create and manage the process for implementing new job positions added to the Credit Union.
  • Work with Managers to create job descriptions.
  • Coordinate effective advertising strategies and analyze the effectiveness of different mediums
  • Post job openings and analyze the effectiveness of different mediums.
  • Continually assess our recruiting efforts and stay up to date on newest trends.
  • Work with the Marketing Department to create hiring content/job advertisements.
  • Coordinate GPO Job Fairs and effective advertising strategies.
  • Establish relationships with Department of Labor, local colleges, and other establishments to meet with individuals and advertise job opportunities to build a candidate pool.
  • Attend local events to recruit talent.
  • Screen, Schedule & Interview candidates with hiring managers and guide managers through the process to ensure quality hires.
  • Provide position offers; create employment/compensation contracts as needed, announce new employees.
  • Successfully administer the employee Onboarding process from start to finish.
  • Provide new hire orientation as needed.
  • Develop, coordinate & supervise internship programs.
  • Assist the Human Resources Department with any employee engagement, appreciation and recognition events throughout the year.
  • Track, Analyze and report on hire time data and strive for efficiency.
  • Analyze & report on hiring surveys and implement changes as appropriate.
  • Review onboarding surveys and implement changes as necessary.
  • Update and maintain employee records and human resources database.
  • Conduct administrative HR duties such as annual reporting and other filing.
  • Complete other duties as assigned in order to support the department and the Credit Union.

Human Resources Specialist Qualifications

  • Determined and motivated individual with a positive attitude.
  • Outgoing personality with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or relevant field with prior recruiting and onboarding experience preferred. Associate’s degree or HS diploma with 3-5 years of similar experience required.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced recruiting environment that requires multi-tasking and setting priorities.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom, and Outlook, with experience managing calendars, coordinating meetings, and handling day-to-day scheduling needs
  • Proficiency using social media and other techniques to advertise and source candidates.
  • Strong sourcing strategies
  • Ability to act with professionalism and tact.
  • Time management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Human Resources Specialist Physical Demands

  • Sitting for prolonged periods of time
  • Frequent computer usage and screen time
  • Frequent typing and usage of fine motor skills

Actual compensation rate will be determined based on relevant experience.
