We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Field Inspector / Crew Supervisor to represent ROHL on-site in Alberta, providing leadership and direction to crews and subcontractors, ensuring all construction activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications, schedules, and quality standards.


The Role

NOTE: This position supports projects based in Alberta and operates on a rotational schedule of 21 days on and 7 days off, with 10–12 hour workdays while on rotation.


The Field Inspector / Crew Supervisor represents ROHL on-site in Alberta, providing leadership and oversight of subcontractors and crews. This role is responsible for ensuring construction activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with project schedules, specifications, and quality standards across all project phases.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Schedule, supervise, and oversee subcontractor crews to ensure project milestones and completion timelines are met
  • Act as the primary on-site representative, providing leadership, guidance, and oversight to subcontractors and field teams
  • Monitor daily site activities to ensure compliance with project specifications, quality standards, safety requirements, and productivity expectations
  • Communicate effectively with crews, subcontractors, clients, and internal stakeholders to support project execution and resolve issues in a timely manner
  • Review workloads and coordinate crew schedules in collaboration with management to optimize efficiency and resource allocation
  • Plan and coordinate manpower, materials, equipment, and trades to support project requirements
  • Conduct regular site inspections to verify workmanship, materials, and adherence to project standards
  • Identify and proactively manage potential issues, work interferences, and scheduling conflicts to minimize delays and rework
  • Participate in project meetings with internal and external stakeholders to support project progress and alignment
  • Develop and implement site-specific plans and procedures, ensuring compliance with ROHL’s Safety Program and all applicable regulations
  • Support site access coordination, including site visits, deliveries, and logistics planning
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including daily reports, progress tracking, and deficiency logs
  • Perform additional field or administrative duties as required to support project success

  • What you Bring

  • 5-10 years of experience in utility construction, with a strong background in a supervisory, superintendent, or field inspection role
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with utility and fibre optic cable installation projects
  • Strong understanding of construction practices, project execution, and quality control processes
  • Working knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations and best practices in construction environments
  • Proven ability to oversee subcontractors and enforce safe work practices while maintaining project quality, schedule, and budget
  • Solid understanding of construction documents, including utility plans, drawings, contracts, and specifications
  • Experience coordinating multiple crews, trades, and stakeholders in a fast-paced field environment
  • Knowledge of construction equipment and operating capabilities (e.g., directional drills, vac trucks, road cut saws)
  • Valid First Aid certification would be an asset
  • Ability to utilize GPS equipment to support field operations or demonstrate a willingness to learn and be trained in GPS device operation.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently, make decisions in the field, and adapt to changing project conditions
  • Must have valid Class 5.0 driver’s license with clear driving abstract
