This position is onsite, working typical hours of Monday – Friday from 7:30AM – 5PM with Saturdays as needed.
Job Summary:
The Assistant Service Manager supports the Service Manager in overseeing daily service operations, ensuring high-quality repairs, efficient workflow, and excellent customer service. This role helps manage technicians, schedules, parts coordination, and safety while maintaining productivity and profitability.
Essential Functions and Tasks:
Operations & Workflow
- Assist in planning and coordinating daily service work orders
- Help prioritize jobs to meet deadlines and customer expectations
- Monitor work progress and follow up on delayed or incomplete jobs
- Support scheduling of technicians and on-call coverage
Technician Support & Supervision
- Assist in supervising service technicians and apprentices
- Help with onboarding, training, and coaching of technicians
- Ensure technicians follow standard repair procedures and safety policies
- Assist in performance evaluations and productivity tracking
Customer & Communication
- Communicate with customers regarding service status, delays, and repairs
- Help resolve customer concerns or service issues professionally
- Support warranty and service documentation
Parts, Inventory & Tools
- Coordinate with parts department or vendors to ensure parts availability
- Help track inventory, tools, and equipment usage
- Assist with cost control and minimizing downtime due to parts shortages
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce safety procedures and proper use of PPE
- Assist with inspections and compliance with company and regulatory standards
- Promote a clean, organized, and efficient shop environment
Administrative Support
- Assist with service reports, work orders, and documentation
- Support labor tracking, timecards, and job costing
- Help identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce costs
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED (technical certification preferred)
- 3+ years of experience in service, maintenance, or repair operations
- Prior lead technician or supervisory experience preferred
- Strong mechanical or technical knowledge
- Ability to read work orders, manuals, and schematics
- Good computer skills (CMMS, work orders, spreadsheets preferred)

Required Physical Abilities:
Physical requirements of this position may require a range of activities. These can include, but are not limited to:
- Lifting and carrying – the ability to lift and transport objects of specified weights, which may vary by job. For example, a job may require lifting up 25-50lbs regularly.
- Standing and walking – this position will require standing and walking for periods of time
- Bending and stooping – bending, stooping, or crouching are requiring to effectively preform essential duties of this position.
- Reaching and pushing/pulling – the ability to reach for items, push carts, or pull equipment will be necessary for daily activities.
- Sitting – there will be times this position will be needed to sit for prolonged periods of time.
- This position will also be required to operate certain machinery and other equipment safely.
Work Environment:
This position will require employees to work in certain weather conditions, such as heat, cold, as well as potential confined spaces.
Monday – Friday from 7:30AM – 5PM with Saturdays as needed
