Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
The Manufacturing Technician – Tempered Glass supports production by safely moving and processing glass through the tempering facility. This role ensures that glass products are handled accurately, processed according to specifications, and meet quality and safety standards throughout the tempering process.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Accurately read and interpret glass specifications, drawings, and work orders.
- Safely move glass throughout the tempering facility, including washers, polishers, ovens, and roller tables.
- Operate machinery involved in the tempering process, ensuring proper sequence and handling.
- Follow order paperwork and production schedules to guarantee accurate processing of glass products.
- Perform ongoing quality checks on glass to identify defects or deviations from specifications.
- Report any equipment issues, maintenance needs, or safety concerns to supervisors promptly.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace while adhering to facility standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Comply with all company safety policies and procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience working in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Experience with equipment operation, maintenance, or repair preferred.
- Mechanical aptitude and strong analytical skills to troubleshoot minor process or equipment issues.
- Basic math and measurement skills, including the ability to read a tape measure accurately.
- High attention to detail, an organized approach, and the ability to reprioritize as production demands change.
- Ability to work flexible hours as needed to support production schedules.
- Physically capable of performing manufacturing duties, including lifting up to 75 lbs., bending, kneeling, reaching, standing, pushing, and lifting for extended periods (3–4 hours without sitting).
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Primarily indoor manufacturing environment with exposure to seasonal weather variations.
- Exposure to moving equipment, sharp materials, and rapid machinery movement.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required in designated areas.
SAFETY
Safety is our top priority. All employees are required to wear appropriate PPE while working or walking in production, warehouse, or loading dock areas. Each department maintains an updated PPE list, and adherence to safety procedures is mandatory.
