Job Description

Sustainability Reporting Manager

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Sustainability Reporting Manager in the United States.

This is a high-impact, visibility-driven role sitting at the intersection of sustainability reporting, technical accounting, and internal controls. You will own and evolve the sustainability controllership function, ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and audit readiness of ESG and external sustainability disclosures. As reporting requirements expand and assurance expectations increase, you will play a central role in building a scalable, control-driven reporting framework. The role involves close collaboration with accounting, sustainability strategy, product, and external assurance partners. You will also contribute to shaping how sustainability data is structured, validated, and embedded into enterprise reporting systems. This position offers the opportunity to influence both regulatory compliance and product innovation in a fast-evolving ESG landscape. It is ideal for a detail-oriented accounting professional who thrives in cross-functional, data-heavy environments with strong ownership expectations.

Accountabilities

In this role, you will own the end-to-end sustainability reporting and controllership function, ensuring accurate data collection, validation, and disclosure across ESG metrics. You will also build and maintain internal control frameworks that support audit readiness and evolving assurance requirements.

  • Own sustainability reporting processes, including data collection, validation, reconciliation, and disclosure preparation
  • Design, implement, and continuously improve internal controls over ESG and sustainability reporting data
  • Lead documentation, testing, and remediation of sustainability-related control processes
  • Serve as primary liaison with external assurance providers and support progression from limited to reasonable assurance
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and voluntary frameworks such as California SB 253/SB 261, GHG Protocol, and others
  • Support seasonal reporting cycles and coordinate additional resources during peak periods
  • Partner cross-functionally with sustainability, accounting, and product teams to align metrics, data, and reporting standards
  • Contribute to sustainability product development by providing subject matter expertise and feedback on reporting capabilities
  • Flex into financial reporting and technical accounting support as business needs require
Requirements

This role requires strong technical accounting and reporting expertise, combined with experience in sustainability, ESG frameworks, or external reporting environments. You should be comfortable working independently, managing complex datasets, and collaborating across multiple functions and stakeholders.

  • 5+ years of experience in sustainability reporting, controllership, external reporting, or technical accounting
  • Strong understanding of ESG frameworks such as GHG Protocol, SASB, TCFD, or equivalent standards
  • Experience with internal controls design, documentation, and testing in reporting environments
  • Familiarity with assurance processes, ideally including limited or reasonable assurance engagements
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements such as California SB 253 and SB 261 (preferred)
  • CPA certification or active pursuit of CPA strongly preferred
  • Experience in public accounting, audit, or advisory roles is a plus
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to manage and validate large, complex datasets
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to engage cross-functional and senior stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently in a high-ownership, deadline-driven environment
  • Experience working with product or SaaS teams is an advantage
Benefits
  • Competitive base salary ($106,000 – $172,000 USD range) plus discretionary annual bonus
  • Restricted Stock Units (RSUs) at hire
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) retirement plan with company match
  • Flexible remote work within the United States
  • Paid time off and supportive work-life balance policies
  • Opportunities for professional development and career growth
  • Exposure to high-impact ESG and sustainability transformation initiatives
